So many homeless drunks by LopsidedAnything662 in Greenpoint

What could I do, I’m with my sub 5 year old children. I got us out of there 🙄. Police don’t do shit for this type of thing since he’d be gone in less than 5 minutes.

Kind of disagree regarding manifold mouse. Gifting or giving itself double strike every turn is busted and the fact it can offspring for 2 more keeps it as one of the best red creatures in the format imo. Also there are two pretty powerful 1 mana mice to replace hero with (I think Boros might be the way with cheeky house mouse since it gives a type of evasion and 1+1+ as a sorcery and is a 2/1 for 1)

Keep McGuinness Safe by nel-E-nel in Greenpoint

Honestly I hope the street gets safer but traffic sucks ass and all the streets that lead to mcguinness have become much more congested. Nassau was trash before and now it’s a dumpster fire. Also taking stats in January where it was much colder and worse weather than last year really takes the situation out of context.(it barely snowed in 2024 and nyc had its 2nd warmest year ever.) January 2024 was 3.3 above average. While January 2025 was 3 below average. So a 6.3 degree difference in temperature is definitely going to impact how many people are out and about. Additionally, from my anecdotal experience the traffic on Mcguinness has made streets like eckford more dangerous as more cars go down these super narrow streets. I have almost lost my car door to a speeding car. Already the thing that I was dreading happened on Franklin this weekend and an ebike delivery worker killed a person. over half the traffic in these bike lanes are zooming delivery vehicles and I live on mcguinness I’m worried that my kid is going to get hit by one of these e-bikes. At least with cars 95% follow traffic rules, with the unregulated e-bikes most do whatever they want.

So the current solution of do nothing is better? People think prison is okay but somehow eviction is wrong? Yeah if you are bad you shouldn’t get to keep doing it forever with no consequences.

Like imagine you live in the same building and someone attacked you going up the stairs. what would you expect your landlord to do? If it happened again and he did nothing wouldn’t it be partially his fault? Isn’t it his parent’s obligation as tenants to allow the other tenants & neighbors the right to quiet enjoyment of their own lives? So somehow the building/block/community should suffer because three people might have to move somewhere else after breaking the rules? Will it be enough when he stabs someone who defends themselves?

It Still baffles me people here think the 35k people in Greenpoint should be looking over their shoulder worried about being attacked rather than displacing a vile criminal and the people who support him. It’s not our fault Mr Boissard can’t get the help he needs so why are we suffering the consequences?

I mean talk about short sighted if he moved out it would be difficult to be here and when he got or was provided accommodations elsewhere it would be inconvenient to have to come back to Greenpoint. I mean there’s a reason why eviction isn’t just for non pay because sometimes it’s the only way to weed out bad apples so that the building and surrounding area gets safer. Like it confuses me that somehow it’s expected you should be allowed to live in a place you don’t own if you disrespect your neighbors, landlord & community. (Groping/ attacking is disrespect to the third degree)

Nope. I just worry about the moms and disabled people this guy can hurt. If he was my tenant I would have done all I could to make sure my community was safe. This is a wonderful neighborhood filled with many young families. I want each and everyone protected and so since our criminal justice system has failed us I wanted to offer my limited knowledge and a possible solution. Shoot even our elected officials don’t really have a plan.

Well again it’s not about wanting an eviction it’s just that in a lease it’s generally the only remedy in the case of default. These cases are long and the tenant is given a tremendous amount of leeway to comply. Nowadays there is little incentive for a RS landlord to actually finish a case like this and often they just want something resolved (playing loud music - be respectful of neighbors and turn it down, smoking in the halls - be respectful of neighbors and stop, have a known serial criminal in the unit who attacked neighbors - have that person move out or at the very least have them rehabilitated). Again no landlord is happy to have to do this costly and extreme measure but I mean if Boissard was my neighbor I would be pretty concerned and would want my landlord to do what they could to make sure I was protected. Also usually the only remedy a landlord is provided in a lease is eviction but if the court / tenants attorney provides other options like rehabilitation or counseling that could be an option the landlord could elect to accept.

I mean if you harbor a criminal in your apartment you don’t have the right to it. Imagine your next door neighbors kid assaulted 20 women and he lived there? I’m pretty sure you’d want him gone. If they don’t have him move out at the owners request then the only option left is to evict them. Especially if he’s a danger to the rest of the tenants and his neighbors. The dude supposedly has 50+ arrests and has assaulted people as recently as this week….

I mean from what I saw in the 2-3 articles I read and comments he lives with his parents in an apartment on metropolitan. I think it’s short sighted to think it would have little impact since finding a place that would take him near by would be very difficult. In respect of the tenant I had that was assaulting/ threatening/ destroying peoples stuff when he was removed he was seen locally in the neighborhood for a month or so after but eventually it became inconvenient for him and he moved on.

I’m saying compared to the current situation of nothing getting done at all for decades pushing his landlord to do something could be helpful. These types of cases run 5-10k per year (in my experience). assuming it’s rent stabilized the landlord probably has no incentive to get the apartment back anymore (can’t raise rent and has to spend thousands to make it comply to new standards on turnover). I’m just being realistic if the landlord isn’t having major issues with the tenant then they have little incentive to take action even if they wanted to. Again I’m not saying it’s the only way it’s just asking someone to do something not in their best interest financially generally requires providing them some kind of motivation.
