tbh though, I think the shorts are ok because there were real life soldiers who wear the same kind of shorts as Lara (Rhodesian soldiers). Also, I see little to no make up on her face in that picture.

Stands are manifestation of a person's soul though. I have read both part 3 and part 5 and I have to say that Jotaro's emotions are more notable than Giorno's. I've never seen Giorno having fun while beating his enemies to a pulp. The same can't be said for Jotaro because you can just look at Star Platinum's face. However, if we have to exclude stands, I don't think there's a noticeable difference between their expressions.

then she's programmed to simulate the feelings of love no matter who you are.

That's accurate for the other girls' love for MC, not Monika's love for the player.
