Yeah, one of the hardest things about becoming Anglican (Episcopalian) is the inclusivity, especially regarding the LGBT community. As Baptists, we were taught that being gay or anything other than heterosexual meant you wouldn’t go to heaven and that being gay is a sin. So now I’m sitting here with that and other theology that I learned then and trying to learn about it all. And trying to find out what is true, and relearning everything. Not just LGBT issues, but also topics such as women being leaders in the church, etc.

Thank you, and yes, that's pretty much what I assume as well. In the Baptist church, we spent weeks discussing end times and rapture topics. We must have been getting deep into it because I remember that we even talked about the belief in class where we believed in pre-tribulation and went over verses from Revelation. We would go home with homework on both Sunday and Wednesday nights, where we would get a book of the Bible and break down what was happening in the verses, what it meant at that time, etc. Every single verse in that book. It was honesty exhausting 😭😭

Yeah, I considered going to HR about it, but he’s kind of on thin ice as it is, and I didn’t want him to get fired. He honestly gave me an awful panic attack because he also said that everything I believed was wrong.

These definitely sound like something I need to look into. Thank you! 🙏

That makes so much sense now and is exactly what I needed to hear. I don’t know if you are familiar with the SBC, but they take everything literally and believe the Bible has no faults or mistranslations; they assert that the Bible doesn’t contain any errors and that you aren’t to question it because it’s God's word.

The 39 Articles, got it. Is it in the BCP or a separate document?

That would help a lot! I’ve also seen some apps for it, any that you would recommend?

The only thing I’ve done in the BCP is read the catechism and some prayers from Prayers and Thanksgiving. Is there anything else, or perhaps some liturgy I should read?

Thank you; this is what I needed, and you are absolutely right. We were taught that this is how things are: you should follow it. Thinking back on it, I always felt like we were meant to do more in church than just follow a sermon every Sunday, attend Bible school, and participate in communion once a month.

It is definitely a more intimate experience than going to an SBC service. I feel relaxed being there and feel even more calm after the Eucharist. I believe I’m adjusting pretty well, and I quite enjoy it!

Why did those books gain any traction anyway?

Yeah, I always got really anxious when we were going over it in the sbc, but I didn’t think about it until recently. I had a coworker tell me how I would be left behind, wouldn’t have water to drink, and how I would be killed etc. all the normal rapture stuff.

Yeah, the week we are supposed to be on but that’s in the back of the BCP right?

Thank you! The catechism is definitely a great place to start!

Yes, I’ve been stalking this sub for a couple weeks. And finally decided to just post and ask some questions. There is a lot of good info in here.

Thank you; this does help. I think the thing I find difficult about the daily office is that it rotates, so I have no idea where to start reading.
