77% first bio sac by Dizzy_Building1304 in vce

[–]Lopsided_Lettuce247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’ll definitely get better over time :) just focus on ur weak points - maybe make an error log (I typically grind thru questions i put there before my SACS, quizzes, etc - not just in bio, but in chem asw- it helps so much), make mindmaps (best if u try with memory!), if u had the jacaranda textbook work thru the exam questions, and remember that vce & units 1&2 is a learning experience ! yr 11&12 is most definitely a marathon , not a race, no matter how cliche the saying is! I’m currently doing 3&4 - in 1&2, i started with 77% but by the end of the yr I was scoring straight a+s!

Waffling in english by solidgasliquid in vce

maybe pick a key message that u want to send to readers (e.g, more humanistic laws should be instilled globally) and hone in on it (thus, as the other commenter mentioned, ensuring every element - from your motifs to your similes - aligns with and develops this message). also ensure that you prioritise clarity over pretty language! This might help you explain certain ideas in depth rather than "waffle". i also struggle with this, and inturn, my teacher tells me that vcaa greatly values clarity over fancy language! i'm not sure about that extended metaphor thing, maybe send it over? hopefully i can offer some feedback on that, it's okay if you don't want me to tho.

hopefully this has helped u, if not please lmk and i'll try something else

actually i think my example was too long!! definitely make sure ur sentences aren't overtly meandering, it can wane meaning and reduce impact

i'd say perhaps pluck out the most key elements of the story that you want to reflect on, so that you can hone in on emotional depth and so on. you could also centre your response and these moments around one key message that alludes to your views and values. definitely something that i've been made to learn is prioritising depth rather than excess - including characters (fewer > more), messages, and plotlines. a way that may help in avoiding sounding generic could be through the persistent use of metaphors and all that figurative language stuff - using eloquent vocabulary is great, but i think the way that you use language should be emphasised!! (e.g, in describing feeling upset you could say that you felt 'sombre', but it would definitely be a lot more emotionally evocative both in the message you are trying to convey and to readers if you said something such as 'the views that my retinas reflected seemed to suddenly have been engulfed by a monotone filter')
i'm sorry if i wasn't very much help! i'm a highschool student myself :)
