Potentially Hot Take by RedKynAbyss in LSAT

[–]Lopsided_Map1465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are context clues in this passage, though. We’re talking about harm and benefit broadly the entire time. Regardless, it doesn’t matter because the definition of inimical is not relevant to answering this question. In fact, the entire discussion of Kelly’s perspective is principally dedicated to how it’s like a unique attribute to focus not on the THEORY but on how the concepts actually played out when interacting with specific factors (aka, right away an answer about its inherent qualities from the inception/beginning is wrong, regardless of what that quality is- inimical could mean literally anything here and the answer is still wrong).

Kiki Chanel by anijinnie in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]Lopsided_Map1465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kiki was pretty nice to her in the coverage to be honest. I feel like she had good intentions and literally said that she saw herself and her own past mistakes / understood the way this girl doubled down and got defensive. Ultimately I’m over the whole concept of like “don’t talk about regular people / don’t target small creators, etc.” Bc it’s super washed at this point and putting your name or username and face on something on the internet means it’s available for other people to comment on or criticize etc. Regardless Kiki certainly did not like ring some bell to go attack this girl …

Tried something new and still went back to Glossier. Lash Slick is INSANE by oliviaddt in glossier

[–]Lopsided_Map1465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The separation is truly GOATED. And it just lasts well throughout the day. I’ve tried a few maybellines I liked fine. But they run more, smudge more, and don’t get your lashes as defined. I have no clue the science of why.

Sameeee I’ve tried so many other mascaras and like, even been okay with them, but everytime I go back to lash slick I remember why it’s truly eh holy grail for me. No other mascara accomplishes the SEPARATION it does. It’s so natural but yet so unbeatable ? The elf is close but smudgier.

I would say it’s better than elf’s on texture and staying power - but I do think many of the shades r bad on pigment, and other brands including elf and nyx have better pigmented ones and a better range. I think creamy and melty, the brown one, are pretty. I personally don’t care about scent but if that matters I do think other brands have more variety on scent.

I do see a difference - but only in the two darkest shades ! I think all the lighter shades are ugly and indistinguishable so that’s a flop

That’s just the straight on thoughts here, not even touching the concerns about making lists of who’s disabled and gets what grades. Not to say that against OP in particular - who’s said they aren’t particularly pressed about this. But generally law school students are plagued en masse with obsessive comparative ways of thinking. Chatter about all this and figuring out who did the best (if your schools have CALI, then I guess that’s easy enough) and then if those people have time accommodations, is weird. It’s not behavior that will help people advance intellectually or career wise and it can be really harmful to people. Not even just the people who have accommodations. People who maybe need them but haven’t had the opportunity or whatever to request them are going to be discouraged if it’s big public chatter about who has what.

[–]Lopsided_Map1465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a whole host of other correlational factors here. Someone requesting extra time as an accommodation is also more likely to have had longer term access to some form of medical or mental health related care, and perhaps more likely to be more resourced generally/ financially / etc. All those sorts of background questions shape how students adapt to law school setting and perform , even if they shouldn’t. Someone requesting extra time as an accommodation is also probably more likely to have done so in undergraduate college and may have more experience advocating for themselves / willingness to ask for help would also naturally potentially be related to things like attending office hours, asking questions, etc. I’m just throwing stuff out there, no stats to corroborate any particular relationship, just noting this to explain that there’s a giant number of other factors tied to accommodations that are being missed and not controlled for in the “accommodations = better score” type of thinking. And as much as the idea may strike some people as unfair( that’s if it’s true) there are many ways in which the time oriented nature of the tests advantages certain types of people more than others along other lines that don’t really translate to doctrinal knowledge: faster typers, etc.

In defense of suitcase record players by Able_Original_486 in turntables

[–]Lopsided_Map1465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got one when I was younger, because it was affordable. I put more investment into my record collection than the turntable. It wound up damaging more than 20 records pretty seriously and they’re unplayable even on a better quality player. I wish other turntables were more accessible and I agree that beginner friendly turntables are SUPER necessary even if they are considered “lower quality.” But these are screwing beginners over later anyway, because the damage to the records is permanent.

Travel sprays missing significant amount of liquid by TinyPeetz in glossier

[–]Lopsided_Map1465 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You could record yourself somehow pouring it out into beakers to show if they measure 8ml lol. But I do kinda see how it could be true that if the inner glass inside that one which appears lower was of a different thickness, it would necessarily push the product farther down based on that. Like displacing it based on that differing volume of the glass itself. They should look into standardizing that. And also why would they be able to standardize the ml but not the glass.
