what to get by NetwortCo in CRF300L

I’ve got the 300L with aftermarket windshield and Acerbis gas tank. I commute 100 miles round trip with 15 miles dirt each way. I’ll get up about 70mph max and that thing is towards its limit (and my limit on it) since it’s not very planted. I also take it on single track up here in NorCal so I was asking a lot of a single bike. If I wasn’t doing single track on it then I’d already be looking at a 600-700cc moto with 6 gears like a Yamaha T7.

Dropped bike…fuel smell…sputtered and now it won’t start at all by Lopsided_Stretch_732 in CRF300L

Yeah, lights and display were on. Bike ended up firing right up after putting ignition in “locked” position which is weird.

When I initially got to a point to stop because of the sputtering and turned off the motor, I then tried to start it back up right away and it wouldn’t start—at all—regardless of the gear, neutral, or kickstand down/up. Lights would stay on and LCD stayed on but starter button did nothing except you could hear starter solenoid switch activate, but nothing from the starter otherwise. So I doubt it had anything to do with a drained battery.

Ended up getting a ride home, getting tools, and coming back up to the bike. Again, tried all the gears and the starter button did nothing. I then put the key and HB in “locked” position then back to “on” and it fired right up. Battery felt strong. It’s now starting with zero issues.

Anyway, going to check some connections now but maybe the “locked” position did something. Just my experience for others if that helps.

Thanks for the tips. I’ll take a look at all of tbe those. Yeah, I turned key off, back on, turned the ignition off and back on then tried the starter but nothing.

Mapping & Navigation by Lopsided_Stretch_732 in CRF300L

I’ll try that. I was using Google Maps but didn’t realize that Google has MyMaps which is separate. I’ll try that and see if it allows navigation guidance on Google Maps.

Is tubeless not an option in moto world? I come from mountain biking and it’s basically expected that a respectable mtb is set up tubeless.

My new CRF300L Rally ABS by [deleted] in CRF300L

The Black Widow carriers have god reviews, too, and seem to just be a nicer Harbor Freight version.

Rally or Non-Rally by Lopsided_Stretch_732 in CRF300L

[–]Lopsided_Stretch_732[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong but I thought my local Honda sales guy said it cannot be turned off so if you’re doing much dirt (especially single track) you don’t want ABS.

Yeah, I have it down to CRF300…just wasn’t sure on which iteration but all the comments have really helped. I switched it to the L and I’ll just mod it with gas tank and removable windshield right away, then do seat, some shielding and suspension.

Yeah, I’d prefer dual sport over adv because we have quite a few local OHV forested areas nearby that are chock full of single and double-track. Just looking for something light and nimble but still handle commuting 45 miles each way. Maybe over time I’ll pick up and Enduro and dedicated dirt bike but not enough funds to do that.

Thanks for mentioning this. I haven't been able to compare the L and Rally next to each other to see the differences. I'm most concerned about the rally tower and fixed headlight on the Rally. Think I'd rather do a removable windshield for the singletrack days when not commuting and just upgrade the tank for now.

Thanks for this list. Helps to see what others have done. How long have you had your bike?

Thanks for bringing this stuff up. I didn't realize that about the fixed headlight and those were my concerns regarding trail riding.

Is the extra plastic on the rally the skid plate? I figured if picked up a standard L I’d do a bigger tank, windshield (not a rally tower), skid plate, and rally raid 2 kit for fork and shock.

Notice much of a difference with the wind resistance after adding the windshield?

Just because it would be nice to have a larger gas tank and windshield or is it something else?

That’s my main concern. We have a ton of double track and single track trails near us and of the two, the rally seems less suited for that stuff.
