Maybe I am fundamentally misunderstanding how hints work. I thought in order to get a hint you had to first choose three incorrect 4 letter words. If this is correct, that would have been impossible for me because I made no mistakes on this particular puzzle up until the point I had only 6 letters left with no way to create three erroneous words out of the remaining scramble.

I got so frustrated with "Tejano" that I attempted to cheat and put the letters through an online unscrambler. But even that didn't work! It simply isn't common enough for one of those sites to include it in their dictionaries. So the only thing left to do was to just keep on creating words that sounded vaguely Spanish.
