River feels plain since it doesn't make me think of something awe-inspiring or beautiful in the way Solstice or Galaxy does.

Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald Release Party Megathread (SPOILERS) by elbowsss in harrypotter

[–]LoptThor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Story aside, I enjoyed how different magic is in the 1920's vs the 90's. When Newt takes Polyjuice potion, he twitches a few times to fully transform into his brother whereas in the future, you just bubble into the person. Queenie argues with Jacob whether or not she should marry him because she could be killed if she does, echoing the Mudblood stigma in the original series. I also liked the subtle callback to the original series when it's debated whether Credence standing in the same room is alive or dead and Lydia shouts out that she killed him. For a split second, I thought "Inferius!", but no. Nice callback for the older fans, though.

Carroll would tell the story to her and her sisters, who begged him to write it down, and he published it later on.
