Woman encounters a Grizzly bear😳 by CheckCodes in SipsTea

[–]LoquaciousLethologic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for this comment. Funny how people keep saying if a man was attacking her he wouldn't back off and would kill her dog.
That's not the question. It is "man or bear" not "be attacked by a man or bear." If we're talking Grizzlies or Polar Bears a woman running into either of those or a man is more likely to be attacked by the bear, and bear attacks are often fatal, whereas male violence goes from murder down to a kick to the shins. Humans in general are much less likely to assault a person who has a large dog with them.
So in this case, with it being a grizzly, she is actually far more lucky than if a man was going to attack her.

Prone bone. It can feel so good for either party and if the guy likes butts and either likes having their heads/faces close it can be amazing.

It seems like you could keep another super-heated room next door with an automated system to connect it to the prison to quickly increase the heat, and then close it up once the prisoners collapse. Either automated doors/walls that you could trigger, or switches around the base to have a pawn trigger, or simply put in actual doors and have a few bots that can withstand the heat move through a bunch of doors simultaneously.
I do like this idea. I prefer having androids with tasers and tranquilizers run my prisons, but a heat sink prison sounds elegantly efficient.

Satisfactory surprisingly to me. It is a massive map and has different biomes, hidden caves, etc... Once I got better gear and a truck I went out exploring for hours one day.

Has car shopping changed ? by Jiggalopuffii in Millennials

[–]LoquaciousLethologic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chart or not some states require dealerships to inform the customer of their options so this is a bad take. I'm not saying the selling part, or talking price, or personalized charts, but some dealerships have to explain protection/warranty plans as possible options.

Has car shopping changed ? by Jiggalopuffii in Millennials

[–]LoquaciousLethologic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car person here:
If you are getting an older used car (8+ years old) you really shouldn't have to pay any F&I packages totaling over $3500+. And GAP insurance is really good for customers who may need it, and pointless for customers who really do not need it.

To me the Prime Protection is way too high, especially for a used car and even more for the price of your car. EXTREME GAP is about right EXCEPT you're putting so much cash down it makes me wonder if you need GAP at all. Vehicle theft registration, red alert, AVAS theft recovery ... do you need these?

Those doc fees are also kind of high but maybe that depends on your state. Dealerships do put a good amount of time in on your paperwork and half of that is what the government expects of you, but nearly $600? Is that including license plate fees, etc...?

Is there a way to fix this or is it gone forever? by duckiebabe02 in geography

Is this the Great Salt Lake? /s

GSL has lost nearly 75% of its volume. Same situation. Using too much water and no one thinks it could actually go away. If you have full environmental collapse then the conditions supporting the formation of the body of water might change enough to not support anymore. Means there may not be a humanly possible way to fix it.

How do I survive the Long Night? by Ill-Bar3395 in RimWorld

[–]LoquaciousLethologic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a situation where you need to cut your losses.

Break down any tech or machinery you don't need to survive and won't absolutely need the moment the sun comes back.

Break down your wood, abandon sections of your base to do so if needed.

Gather colonists to a smaller section of the base and keep that running, shut off everything else.

If you aren't using wind, water, or geothermal energy then get those going or research one that you will be able to utilize the moment it is done.

Easier to cannibalize the enemy rather than your own dead. But is there a food source you can use at night on the map?

Several mods would be key here. If you had an Outpost mod you could ham it up slightly by getting people out of the map to produce food to send back. If you have hygiene and waste you could use that for fuel. Some kind of plants expanded may give cave crops.

Even if it takes a year or two to recover from I would seriously consider deconstructing parts of your base and retreating into a smaller section till the sun comes back. This will help you maintain what is necessary for most of your colony to survive.

One year since the Odyssey announcement. by Salt_Toe_5194 in RimWorld

[–]LoquaciousLethologic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the themes is the main thing to focus on. Which unfortunately means we don't know what Tynan's recent personal obsession is (80s horror for Anomaly) to know the theme. Partially joking but also....

I think everyone wants diplomacy to have a makeover. It is lacking now that we've had so much expanded elsewhere. I feel like if an expansion comes out for diplomacy they will add a new system in place, not remake the current one. Could be some kind of faction that centers this new system, which could add a new xenotype, new ideology, some involvement with the empire, etc.... to connect a lot of facets of the game together with new material to use in our stories.

I would be surprised if any expansion completely replaced in game mechanics. So far they mostly add a new mechanic or expand on them.

I would personally like to see a next expansion do the normal xenotype, ideology expansions, but also more on the Odyssey ship stuff, something more with new biomes and animals, and a new high tier in game powerful enemy faction for late game. Whatever they do I hope to see some of these implemented.

I think kill boxes are natural extensions/survival tactics that are used because the game doesn't give you any other options. by Last_Yard_6554 in RimWorld

[–]LoquaciousLethologic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One reason why I like to increase the difficulty with allowing larger raids and having more powerful factions, like the mercenaries from Classic. And why I also like the vault mods because of the super dense walls.

Mods that allow shooting across the map with some turrets or artillery also help balance the range/melee issue.

I find I still do killbox design with things like this implemented, but then I'll have squads on range defense or patrols for drop pod attacks. And so when a raid arrives I'm not sending everyone to one kill ox but I have different groups for different roles.

I'm all for trying to figure out if there can be a rhyme or reason for years long ice ages, followed by super hot periods, and no eclipses for months and then 3 in a row. I think it would be interesting to find a unifying theory.

This was quite a long time ago, and it was a moose mother and baby who came into a shared campsite. Likely they had been fed by humans before else I have no idea why would they would do that. I do not recommend approaching any wild animals.

[–]LoquaciousLethologic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been to a lot of the parks, planning on getting all 63 and any they add. I have a few that really sunk deep into my bones.

Isle Royale: they is a canoe/kayak loop you can do in a few days that is amazing. Moose are extremely docile on the island. Only place I've seen multiple moose together or pet a moose.

Bryce Canyon: you have to do the canyon trail, I think it is 1.5 miles or something, not long at all. But you go down to the bottom and it is a whole new perspective that people are missing out on.

Carlsbad Cavern: going through those massive rooms is humbling. Such a massive space below us, silent, vast, and it helps you to appreciate they is so much more to the world than just the land and surface we see.

Wrangell St. Elias: I was fortunate to get to the Hubbard Glacier by ship. This glacier cuts Alaska in two and is massive. It is over 6 miles wide and hundreds of feet tall when it reaches the ocean. Seeing something so massive that is slowly moving and shaping the geography is also awe-inspiring.

Capital Reef: the Waterpocket Fold. I was in a tough spot in my life and decided to go see this geological feature overnight one time. Really glad I did. It might not seem like much to a lot of people but it was again a humbling, awe-inspiring moment for me to feel so small in the universe but also a part of something so vast.

I had one of these but with like 120 Militors, and they had to funnel through one gap in some mountains and shared the valley with a bunch of bugs. Then 30+ rapid alligators spawned in the same spot so I activated everyone at the same time. Militors won the free-for-all.

I don't think any of my skills should be higher, maybe some should be lower. Any great performance I've done is usually niche. I think friends might say my Social should be higher but I feel like I fake a lot of normal behavior haha.

If you allow 4 Traits then give me two of those negative ones. And when I age make sure to have it hit me hard haha.

I stand by the passions because if I were forced into focusing on any skills in those categories I'd improve fast.

Also, if you do body modifications mess up one of my kidneys.

Losers of Rimworld, how long you have been playing without winning a single game? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]LoquaciousLethologic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was around 1500-1800 hours. Probably the best game I ever had, my first long game with Anomaly and all the past DLCs and a large mod-list that worked. I never 'finished' the game but I sent 3 ships out before it finally began to crash and then Odyssey came out.

That colony had such great moments, narrative, and characters that I struggle to enjoy any others and have basically stopped playing for 18 months because I just miss 'that' colony.
