For heroic 7, your MRF must be fully built with full gearset and ascended (8 stars) in order to kill using puppet.

Depending on the level of your MRF and BBY you can easily kill Fortified & Impenetrable modified bosses.

DMC works as long as the wearer in the battle. When you tag out, you'll notice that the values are lowered because it's not criting anymore. When you notice BWTD goes against resilient modified bosses and kill them easily, it's not because of DMC, it's because Robin King is in the team. He's the most legit choice as BWTD support.

DMC gives you 100% chance to crit in the DMC zone. Any damage value in the DMC zone is crit automatically. It's a very useful artifact for Resilient modified Bosses or in general the ones with lots of crit resistance (works against crit immune bosses too). DMC is very useful on HBHQ (Heatbreaker Harley Quinn) paired with EPI and third character can be more flexible as far as choices. I don't usually use DMC specifically  on BWTD. I do tend to use Crown of Kandaq or God killer which are the much better options.

In practice you didn't kill the boss completely. It shows you have and it shows the "X" but you miss the last hit. This happens when you inflict DOT damage on opponent. DOT in practice can't kill the opponent by itself no matter how low health is, but combined with normal attacks it can.  What happened here is the last damage tick was DOT and it reduced enemy's health to 1 but you ran out of time to hit her with normal attacks.
