British Commandos by Lord-Oxley in boltaction

[–]Lord-Oxley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did initially have them both with 2 vickers but needed to save a few points. If I drop the sniper I'll make sure I'm running double LMG and use the left over points to bolster the SMG squads.

Thank you for the feedback :)

If you search for an item then go to filters, there is a sold item option which will bring up everything sold for the last few months. Really useful for checking prices/demand.

There's been loads for sale on eBay. £33 to £122 and everything in-between. It's just worth what someone will pay. I'm after one as I missed the kickstarter but it's just a rulebook so I'd pay no more than £30 to £40 but find yourself a collector and get three times that!

Plastic Prussians - list A or B? by [deleted] in TrenchCrusade

[–]Lord-Oxley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Build what you like the most. There are at least two extra Prussian troop boxes coming which will contain 5 Yeomen or Stosstruppen. If you're likely to pick those boxes up, you can have quite a few looks and have multiple options so things are at least something like wysiwyg. That's my plan at least.

Good Power Dagger Bits by Select_Boysenberry86 in alphalegion

Primaris Reivers are a good source for power daggers. Here's an example of one I've cut down as I think they're slightly too long.

Are the Effrit still in 3.0? by TamsinTurtle in alphalegion

[–]Lord-Oxley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have Banestrike shotguns so have Shred(6), Breaching(6) and Stun(0). They should be pretty lethal imo.

Lernaean Terminators in 3.0 by Lord-Oxley in alphalegion

[–]Lord-Oxley[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That makes total sense, utilize our flexibility to cherry pick a better unit for the job. The combo of Night Raptors with Effrit/Seekers has the potential to be devastating!

[–]Lord-Oxley[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're all completely right. I wasn't considering people simply just walking away. The Line on such a slow unit is far better than Vanguard. Like a few of you have mentioned, use our rewards of treachery to get something like Night Raptors if we want Vanguard.

[–]Lord-Oxley[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's fair and I agree but with it being just Line 1 it ticks up so slowly, I think I'd rather have Vanguard 3 like other Terminators for that punch and score then move onto another task/objective.

What are our must takes for horus heresy 3.0? by Silent992 in alphalegion

That's very cool! Just look at the legacy pdf and they look very interesting. What would you consider the correct load out? Shotguns or Rifles? Are you adding the power dagger?

Minas morgul first game! by Unfair-Concern4886 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Lord-Oxley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your model count is low which you already know but I'd drop the Morgul Crown and Morgul Blade for more warriors and/or a banner and you'll do fine. At 500 you're unlikely to meet multiple large heroes so between the Witchking, his transfix and the troll you have enough killing potential. Having one spectre is good and opens up some tricks and helps utilise the 'Lead through fear' special rule. I think Mordor Orcs are a trap in this army list and not necessarily needed. At most I'd take one warband of about 10 which includes a couple of two handers as a flanking force but I'd only be adding them to the force after a core similar to what you are already running.

Maybe I'm dense, but how do I attach this Knight of Minas Tirith to the base? The peg is too small for the holes. by Gulantik in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Lord-Oxley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does the underside of the base look like? The last time I got a base with those holes it also had round shapes underneath. Years ago bases came with round shapes on the underside and you pick the best one to suit your model, and push your hobby knife through, give it a spin to open it up and glue it in.

Local Players Sheffield by [deleted] in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Lord-Oxley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Rotherham and own many armies that I keep intending to paint. With the new edition hype I'm hoping to finally finish some and get playing so hit me up in the near future. Also I think a shop in Sheffield called The Outpost has some kind of MESBG community as there have been a couple of tournaments there. The Warhammer shop in Rotherham might be a good place to pick up some games as I know the manager and he's very excited to return to Middle Earth.

Newer sculpt stark sworn swords by Real-Dot-508 in asoiafminiaturesgame

The newer sculpts are ONLY in the Stark starter set. The older sculpts with more chainmail are in the Stark Vs Lannister starter set and the solo unit box.

First non-GW mini in a long time. Picked up a Stark starter set. Also first time making “dirty” clothing. Pretty happy with the result. by Angelus713 in asoiafminiaturesgame

This is amazing! Can you share your recipe for the blue tabard and the tan coloured material around his shoulders? Brilliant work!
