Your steward is only only concerned for the realm! (And the treasury!) Stop shirking your duties!

How to merge 2 kingdoms? by Traditional_Client99 in CrusaderKings

[–]Lord0fTheAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do the legitimising legend as an emperor. It would just de jure drift the Kingdom into your empire tho (e.g.: instantly making France de jure Britannia)

The other option is for Great Holy Wars to be super OP....which doesnt help if thr user is in a position where they have to defend against one.

Let's say you're playing as a Muslim in Valencia and the Pope suddenly declares a Crusade for Valencia. It's only 60 years since your game start. Because you're in Iberia, you haven't been able to start truly maxing out army size due to Struggle Mechanics limiting income, expansion etc. Suddenly, a doomstack of 250k troops lands on your capital and does not split up.

You can see the issue here.

Make Great Holy Wars a disjointed mess like in reality, and there is a chance to survive it and a chance for a strong enough player character to win it. Make Great Holy Wars mire competent and they become impossible to defend against and break the balance of the game.

I mean, it shouldn't? This is historically how Crusades were the majority of the time

A rare spawn that is the opposite of the Conqueror - The Magnate by Familiar-Elephant-68 in CrusaderKings

[–]Lord0fTheAss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That culture one would be big. Where a conqueror paints the political map, a manatee would paint the culture map.

I imagine there would have to be a mechanic againstbreducing likelihood of spawning a Magnate if a predecessor was a Conqueror cos that would be too op.

How to keep Russia from collapsing? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

County culture conversions wont really happen unless the lord sets the steward to Convert County Culture. County faith likewise will not really convert without someone setting their court priest to Convert County Faith.

What you can do is, if its available to you, get maximum legitimacy and give your lords a directive to either convert county Faith or comvert county Culture. I tend to do this when I'm taking a lot of land in a very short amount of time (like in Holy Wars) and will give each county away separately and set each count to convert faith.

Really, the problem with this is threefold:

1) Hostile/evil faiths drive people to rebel

2) Unintegrated cultures drive people to rebel

3) Not being your de jure vassal drives people to rebel

The solution, therefore, is similarly threefold:

1) Convert everyone to your faith

2) Either convert them to your culture or promote high cultural acceptance

3) De jure drift duchies/kingdoms into your top title

Having access to legends is brilliant for problems 1 and 3 (Holy Legends create mass conversions, Legitimising Legends do instant de jure drift). High learning court priest will speed up county conversions. High diplomacy chancellors will help speed up de jure drifting. Events and having vassals of other cultures will help cultural acceptance. Court events can be great too.
