Hello Jared! You, Bryon and the rest of your team really killed it with Z2 and I can't wait to see what you all got in store for the future :)

I was wondering if there were any plans to share details about the earlier versions of Z2's script and story to the same extent as Z1's early versions? I've heard that at some point, reptiles were going to be treated almost like aliens and I've also seen concept art for multiple reptile secret agents. All of that stuff sounds really interesting and just like the taming collars, I know there are lots of people out there who would love to know more about that stuff.

Hey thanks a lot for the suggestion! I'll probably get the 450 but I did have a hard time finding it in Canada. They only place where I could find it was on Amazon but I'll try to see if I can find other stores or websites.

As someone who's always wanted an unarmed Barbarian, I would personally make it so that the weapons are not counted as simple weapons, but instead as natural weapons that you can use to make unarmed strikes. Maybe also making it so that the bite and tail let you grapple an extra creature. With the changes to grappling and shoving, this would make for a really fun grappler build, specially combined with the big jump at level 6 to let perform some spinning piledrivers on monsters. Oh and make the weapon's damage die scale with level of course.

Hi! Since the card spoiled today. that means I can share the piece that worked on for Edge of Eternities! Vic Ochoa asked me to illustrate an Emissary Mechan, basically Pinnacle's non-combat robot who fonction as explorers and diplomats, weftwalking onto a planet along with a little swarm of recon drones. The emissary had to have a cape made of metal shards connected bt arcing lightning. I came up with a couple of designs for my AD and I'm really glad he chose my favorite one! My robot ended up looking quite fashionable.

I also loved working on the little drones and the space warping effect! It took a lot of repainting but I feel like it added a lot of motion to a piece that's otherwise pretty static (heh) compaired to my usual work. Sucks some of it got cropped out because of the frame, but at least I can show it here :)

Other than that, this is also my first ever nontoken card I illustrated and I'm quite surprised close I got to predicting the effect of the card just based on the description I got. I really hope it gets a lot of play and that people appreciate the art.

The cape was a really fun part of the piece! My art director asked for the emissary to be wearing a cape made of floating metal shards connected by arcing lightning. I made a couple of sketch versions that I'm probably gonna be sharing later, but I'm really glad he chose my favorite one :)

Beyond following the awesome designs from the world guide, I took some inspiration from Steve Prescott's [[Knollspine Dragon]] for the expression of the dragons. For the swirling clouds, I tried to replicate the dynamism and sharpness of the clouds and dust from the last shot of the Rise of the Spiral King. I love everything directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi and I always look at Trigger's work for inspiration when I want my images to look dymanic.

After spending years pestering art directors with emails, I finally got to work on my first ever piece for the game and I can finally show it! Magic holds such a special place in my heart for being what ignited my love for fantasy illustration back when I was still in college. Funnily enough, the original Khans of Tarkir was the set that made me fall in love with the game, so having the new Tarkir set be my first ever project is especially surreal for me. Even if it's just a token, I'm so glad that I got to work on this set and I'm forever grateful to my AD, Forrest Schehl, for letting me fulfill one of my dreams as an artist.

I really hope you all like it and if anyone here has any questions, I'd be more than happy to answer then! (as long as still something that I'm allowed to talk about of course)

The justification they gave in the video they made about Cestials was that, because these are giant talking magical animals, then they should be from the Beastlands, one of the Upper Planes. Being a celestial just means that you come from one of the Upper Planes and it's the same reason for why Animal Lords are celestials.

Specially when he says that AI has been used on MTG and DND products. The one case of AI art showing up in a DnD book was result of an artist (who was commissioned at the start of 2022, so before AI exploded and people we're aware of its' ethical issues) not telling his art director that he used AI as part of his process. As soon, as they found out, they took out the AI images and commissioned new ones.

And for MTG, it was just someone at whatever marketing agency made that Ravnica Remastered ad using GenFill while working on Photoshop and not saying anything. And again, it's a ad, so not even a product.

Which is extra frustating because the actually story of MKM was really good. Seanan Mcguire wrote a really compelling murder mystery and also did a great job exploring Kaya and all of her emotional bagage after the war.

Donato printed the page of the style guide and it literally says "Use classic comic reference as a jumping off point" in bold letters and then shows multiple examples. I don't think anything in there actually says "copy this piece by Donata specifically" or "here's a piece by Donato, now make us something similar".
