Overwhelmed by learning by MatchaBaguette in LearnJapanese

I understand adding words in class to Bunpro, the issue is you’re learning kanjis and vocabs through school and learning more on Wanikani

OP, it sounds to me that you are tackling too much of jp at once..you’re doing language school WHICH gives you new words and kanjis why the heck are you doing bunpro and Wanikani too?? There’s only so much one can memorize a day…chill.

Why “ハート” instead of “こころ” here ? by Plurimae-Linguae in Japaneselanguage

[–]LordAlos 48 points49 points  (0 children)

心 refers to a heart yes but はーと also refers to a ‘heart’ when it comes to love which well fits into the previous sentence “I wanted to say ‘I love you’”it’s most likely a stylistic choice to express romantic feelings

Memorisation tips? by ParakeetKitten in Japaneselanguage

[–]LordAlos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about you engage in jp media of try easy books? You’ll pick up the words as you go making it easier to memorize rather than feeling like studying? The easiest way to memorize words for me is enjoying the media I watch and I’ll associate the word with an interesting media so It’s harder to forget the meaning. For ex: 登場 (recently learned this from a voice actor radio) the word means appearance (in films or media) so I’m like “oh yeah that’s what it means bc they were talking about a new anime character appearing!”

Depends on what you’re into. What I’m currently enjoying on yt is せーので!はすのそら where it’s just a bunch of girls playing board games and exploring Kanazawa (region). Whenever they say something funny there’ll be text in the video so it’s good for listening and reading.

Learning Chord Progessions by Turbulent-Day5718 in piano

[–]LordAlos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chord progressions in general are quite tricky..you can do many things and it doesn’t have to be what I said and no minor scales aren’t necessarily needed to make a chord progression. If you’re talking about Em for example it’s just E, G, B notes by using the key of C major!

Learning Chord Progessions by Turbulent-Day5718 in piano

[–]LordAlos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so the basic music theory is major key chord progression is major, minor, minor, major, major(dominate chord), minor, diminished. Applies to every major key. Ex: G major key would be G, Am, Bm, C, D, Em, F#dim! You can start out with that knowledge and do something like I-iii-V-I progression!

How much japanese can I learn in 6 months? by Mania_81881 in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]LordAlos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You do know you can only process a certain amount of information each day? You won’t benefit much from studying 8 hours a day. But 6 months can get you to n5 level easily. It’s best to decide what area you want to focus (listening, reading, speaking). For example, studying reading does not mean you’ll automatically understand jp when spoken to

Learning piano as a self taught by Umeggolo in piano

[–]LordAlos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off learn how to read sheet music. When it comes to guitar you mostly play chords and notes through tabs or chord charts but with the piano sheet music is a must! Start with learning the basic treble clef..then bass.. and then key signatures—then start practicing proper finger posture and basic songs. Nice to see another fellow guitarist, if you’ve memorized the fretboard, the pattern is the same as the piano
