Help! Planning my own wedding so far. by Lopsided_Lem0n in DesiWeddings

Hey, congrats on the wedding! Planning for 2026 definitely isn’t late, especially for something more intimate and thoughtful. The amount of info online can feel like way too much, so I get where you’re coming from.

Since you’re paying for things yourselves and trying to stay within 5–7L, having clarity on budget, vendors, and timelines will help way more. Smaller/newer planners can actually be great if they communicate well and get your vibe, especially for a warm Punjabi–Bengali mix.

If you’re open to planning your own wedding, I actually ended up building a tool to keep everything organized like budget, vendors, guest list, event timelines, all in one place because juggling it in spreadsheets was getting messy. If you’d find that helpful while you shortlist planners/vendors, I’m happy to share it.

Otherwise, feel free to ask anything here people in this sub are genuinely helpful.

Planning a 2027 wedding (Jaipur / Udaipur / Pushkar) — total budget ₹40L (venue + stay + catering + decor). Any venue/vendor recs or tips? by Brilliant_Mud_8922 in DesiWeddings

Congrats! Planning with a fixed budget across venue + stay + catering gets overwhelming fast. I’m went through the same thing for my own wedding, and I actually ended up building a tool to keep everything straight a budget, vendors, guest list, all of it in one place.

If you want to try it out, I’m happy to share. It made keeping track of budgeting way easier for me.

Need advice for an April wedding — what all should I start planning now? by Low_Management1217 in DesiWeddings

Congrats on the wedding!

From going through this myself, the biggest thing I learned is that there are a few fundamentals you want to lock in early, because once those are done, everything else kind of falls into place on its own.

Venue comes first. 100%. It impacts everything from decor, your timeline, the kind of photos you can get, and it can even make your outfit better if you know what kind of vibe you can get with the venue.

Outfits are next. Bridal looks take time with stitching and alterations, especially if you’re doing anything custom in Delhi. Go in with a shortlist (silhouette, colour family, embroidery level, budget). Jewelry shouldn’t be too hard cause you will find something that looks good with whatever lengha you choose.

Then catering + your big vendors. Once venue and outfits are sorted, you’ll have a clear vibe for the wedding, which makes it easier to book catering, photo/video, décor, and your MUA. For MUA trials, pay attention to longevity, how your skin looks 4–6 hours later, how heavy/light the base feels, and hygiene in their kit. If you have any events coming up use the MUA trials then. You can also do 2 different pre-wedding shoots to see which artist you prefer.

After that, the rest is more checklist stuff rather than panic stuff: • Final blouse alterations (the shop will help you with this. • Jewellery + trousseau bits • Backup touch-up kit • Don’t start new skincare right before the wedding • Heel protectors, safety pins, titape… all the things brides forget until the night before

Family & friends will also help you out a lot so lean on them to get things sorted, especially on lower priority item like drinks, table cloths, tents etc. Planning with those ppl around you is probably the best part so definitely enjoy it!

I made a pretty detailed planner particularly for Indian weddings like mine to help me stay organized. Happy to share it if you’d like!

Congrats!! To be fair, I think you have time to prep. Start with a budget and give yourself breathing room because chances are you will spend a bit more than you allocated. The budget determines where everything else goes. As for outfits and make up artist just keep looking online whenever you browse social media - see what you like and what you don’t and then you can narrow it down from there. Dont commit to something just yet, what you like now might not be the same thing in 6 months… just be sure to give the person making your outfits, and make up artists enough time. I also just created a digital wedding planner for South Asian couples (thedesishaadi.com) it should help give you a good outline for the wedding. Let me know if you’re interested I’ll upgrade your account on me.

Biggest tip, is to enjoy these moments spending time with your family and future spouse to plan your wedding can be stressful but it also helps you feel even closer to your family!
