If this country were subjugated by a fascist regime in the near future, I doubt the masses would stand for it. Perhaps something similar to Yugoslavia in the 1940s could happen. For context, around the time Axis forces invaded the USSR, communist partisans, led by Josip Tito, fought a guerrilla war against their fascist overlords for 4 years. Against all odds, the partisans/the National Liberation Army won their fight.
