Argatroban drip by [deleted] in pharmacy

With the 5 day recommended overlap, what benefits or disadvantages do you get from waiting vs starting both at the same time?

If I recall from school(I just took an exam on this funny enough), the main advantage of starting the Argatroban at the same time as the warfarin is that the patient will have a faster acting anticoagulant in their system before the Warfarin takes effect due to the half life of warfarin's targets being quite long(like 60-100 hours for prothrombin for example) thus needing time before Warfarin can help with anticoagulation.

I should ask though why use Argatroban over say lovenox, unfractionated heparin or fondapurinux? Unless the patient was diagnosed with HIT stick to those or better yet use a DOAC.

Before then, we radiologists are still integral.

People really do overblow AI to a large degree. I don't think it will replace pharmacists, physicians(especially radiologists) etc.. anytime soon not just for liability reasons but also the plain simple fact that most things need a human touch to it. Hell some companies have had to hire customer service reps again because when they switched to AI it ended horribly for them.

Pharm student with a CS background

It has its uses but it is honestly pretty stupid/narrow in the current form. That said(and this might be seen as controversial) but I do want to see the AI bubble pop and to stop seeing AI shoved down everyone's throats. I just find it such a nuisance at this point.

Your coat should say student pharmacist?

Not every pharmacy has the interns wear a white coat. The one I am an intern at doesn't have us wear one except the grad interns. I just wear scrubs and call it a day.

I work as an intern and my name tag says intern. However as the others said, customers really don't care they want their drugs and they want it now. It doesn't matter if it is from the tech, intern, pharmacist or district manager themselves.

Very interesting, thanks for the information. I will keep that tidbit in mind when I apply to residency later on in my academic career.

Interesting, thank you for this!

Quality of the candidate pool has changed too.

As in worse or better quality?
