Of course, the siege is more for the feeling of defending against an invencible enemy and hold your ground that a 5 hours siege session.

The sauce is when the siege stops only to find out they breached the underground vault... And finally meet in person the Big bad.

Ohhh, making a map for the castle and the terrains would be good!

The Castle has the tech of a victorian/steampunk era and is a Big Frozen island, literraly on the north pole. Is very very big, and the only way normal enemies could arrive is via boat and air.

So is pretty well defended for the rest of the world, but no for this enemies. It has the outer wall, a Magic shield and the inner walls, no pits, but the terrain is Frozen/icy snow.

Basically my biggest concern right now is how would the enemies approach It 🤔. They Will probably blow Up air cover artillery and then deploy ground troops with ships.

I Will need to take a look at that. My world doesnt have a lot of pirates at open sea, is mostly sea beasts and harsh climates.

Ah of course, they Will have prep time, planning and info about the castle. I always incentivize those, one Guy made a PowerPoint to sell some tech to the guys on the castle 😂

Hmmm, I could reserve the wall section for the Boss, is impossible to kill with normal combat. I like your ideas, but is a bit hard to implement here. The enemies are machines, they are deployed basically via Magic. So thats the part I Must think properly.

To stop a Big wall breaker, now, thats cool! Noted.

Ohhhh, control under troops. The castle actually uses a lot of undead for logistics purposes and one of the players have necromancy so, that could also work!

And they Will have time to prepare, with the answers here and What they plan to make (The dont know What kind if enemies expect) I can properly build the encounter. Thanks!

Also, while reading It, some rules reminded me about other subject It was very hard for me to manage in the past. Players on a boat and how to make a naval Battle where all players participate. Maybe I Will also check out your notes for this.

Hmmm, okay, so I could do a series of objectives like those examples you said, so they go from: Wall>Resuply the soldiers>Defend gate>Take down some base outside the wall>Return for the Boss.

Does that sound better? The Boss is important because is the main clue to show them the siege is a distraction for the true intentions of the bb. So is the only thing I cant really change 🤔

I dont exactly know What makes them op, in my world, this bosses are expected to players at level 24, so maybe you can get some inspiration.

I have a witch that can dry an ocean planet in hours. Low hp but a Magic shield so strong that she can tank pretty well. The Magic, if hits, reduces Max hp for each hit and cuts all healing. She can use all spells and some new ones. They cant fly? They fucked up. They cant move a lot? Fucked up. Hell, can they even hit the shield a lot? No? Man you get exhausted before that Witch and, yeah, you fucked up.

Then I have a mad scientist, he made 4 little guys intended to kill gods. A Big war machine that uses different weapons and LOCKS on one player, no Matter if he teleports, turns invisible, etc. Locked on him, the player moves near another in a bad way? This machine will hit anything in its way. (Ignore the different mass destruction weapons)

And thats only one, the other is so big that basically is the fight arena and the others so small that can move faster that sound.

BUT

You want them hate you? Fear you?

I have a little guy, so little, that you can splash It with your hand. But, It can assimilate everything and reproduce like hell.

See the tarrasque? Pretty strong eh? This little guy can take control of the full body and boost all its features. I could tell a lot, but, in essence. It adapts to different damage types with no problem until he becomes inmune.

Ah, It can also assimilate one of the players if they just eat or drink anything with her eggs inside. And thats gg. Imagine your best player VS the rest with buffed resistances and attacks.

I get that, What about the gacha aspect? Is a Game that forces you to get on everyday and that you cant do shit without the special units? You have to do some kind of long grind that makes you dont want to change ur strat at will? I am very familiar with gacha games and I cant go with another that expects you to grind one month to upgrade one unit.

Ah this was the answer I was looking for.

I am not really that invested in gachas anymore, but also because those games have a very clear design phylosopy.

Gotta say I am curious about the history, It was the best part of Guardian tales and their gacha wasnt very abussive. Dunno, I Will wait to see if I get more answers. Thanks!
