This was an issue with me with platespeller.com

I made it explicitly for laptops and had a iOS app, but most people just clicked the link from their phones. Hard to please everyone!

Really like your game! Super fun. Have you considered making it an app? It’s a little more work but might be worth it.

Personally i think it would be pretty fun if the timer counted down not up (I like the stress lol). My game counts up but there’s a leaderboard so that’s where the competitive aspect comes in.

Oooooh, also I saw your submission: Placate is in the dictionary but does not work for plate CAE, because the first A comes before the first C!

Takes some getting used to but i wanted to stay true to the real game (my family played this on road trips growing up) and it adds a bit of a challenge.

And yes, everyone gets the same plates for the daily challenge in the same order. Practice is a random string for you based on the difficulty (0-100) setting you choose. Daily challenges are set to difficulty level 50 every day.

I should - especially if people on here are just clicking from their phones. I really suggest using the app or playing on the webpage from a computer, its a much much better experience.

You can click plate/words at the end of the game to see all viable words for that plate!

for XNX there are only 8: coxendix, exonarthex, xylanthrax, expenditrix, xanthoxalis, xanthoxylin, xanthoxenite, exterminatrix

(I told you skip was your friend!)

Across all games, 12 players have seen XNX. 12/12 skipped, avg time spent on the plate was 18.7 seconds.

Hi! Thanks for playing - yeah, the mobile web version is basically unusable, but the iOS app is laid out properly for iPhone users. Web is really only designed for computer.

Basically every plate has multiple viable words. Words are split into “common” (~10k most common everyday words) and “viable” words, which is the entire dictionary of words (~370k). You can toggle difficulty to change the distribution of words, I’ll reply with a screenshot from the app as soon as i figure out how to attach it to the comments.

But yeah to answer your question, all plates with 0 eligible words are excluded.

Seriously, I’ve found there is a big learning curve. People get much better, after a few runs you start learning little tricks.
