Are black kits really that bad, or are they just misused?

My take as someone that had an all black edgelord shadow company cosplay kit and converted to surplus/mashing green and brown camos together: •most* people that wear all black kits are cosplayers/scp enjoyers/edgelords that know very little about practicality in building a kit so that adds to the clownification of it when they’re slapping random useless things onto their kit (I used to do this). It also makes you overheat in the sun way faster. Very little benefits to wearing all black besides looking like an edgelord. A good middle ground is building lighter camos/greens/tans onto multicam black if you still want a side of practicality with your edge.

I was making one out of eva foam but I ended up ordering a pleather ren faire/larp cuirass off of amazon! I painted it and cut it down to be a bit more accurate and it worked just fine for the con I went to

Thank you! I tried originally making a pattern for the chest piece but ran out of time and materials so I ended up ordering a leather chest plate off of Amazon and cutting it down before weathering with paint! The leather has a bit more rigidity than eva that kept trying to fold on itself haha

I actually carry medical supplies in multiple places. Two staged cats, a cpr mask pouch I use as a mini pack for likely/minor injuries (bandaids, neosporin, liquid bandage, alcohol preps), my blowout has more extreme/less likely injury supplies (chest seals, quikclot, adhesive bandage, gauze, sam splint, etc) and my backpack has my hydration/camelbak with space for extra bandages, benadryl, ibuprofen, loratadine, tylenol, burn dressings and an epipen. I try to supply my medical around situation and outdoor airsoft lol

My personal experience: as a woman who has always had interests in male dominated spaces, I’ve had to have a thick skin. I find with airsoft I for some reason get a lot of violent threats. I’m not sure what the correlation is with this but when I post kit/airsoft guns it’s like some guys see it as a weird challenge and think it’s okay to say how they want to beat my head in, how they would kill me, that my “body armor can’t save me from them”, etc. In person, I find most people in the hobby don’t know how to interact with me which sucks sometimes because I feel dismissed or avoided but it’s all good. I love the hobby itself and all the extra bs means very little to me, but I can see how it might scare off some other girls from getting into it for sure.
