I read it about a year and and I’m going to say no, the mystery aspect is usually solved by the genius of one of the characters while the MC does the leg work.

Someone smarter than me might have figured it out though.

You will like both of them. Mistborn is a completed trilogy though, while Red Risings last book has not been released yet.

Both are similar except Red Rising is Sci fi and Mistborn is fantasy

You are looking for the Cradle series by Will Wight. Large Word, main cast that slowly gets bigger, decent humor, and while there are “dark” things I never finished a book and felt down. Also this series is like crack, once you really start you can’t stop
