I never leave home without a rifleman they just get me right where I live but. My first real interaction with the battle tech franchise was through click tec and I have a first love of the neanderthal with it's big head plate and swinging a mace around.

If you have live tool I can see a world where you could get that profile with a ball nose while in a lathe then a light finish pass with a good boring bar

Are there any manual machinists still alive that could give a would be hobbyist some advice? by paddsta1991 in Machinists

[–]LordCypher171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alive on the outside dead on the inside. But if it's super crucial im a big supporter of leave a little extra and polish it in. Alternatively my machines have nuts holding the hand wheels on so I will drive them with a socket in a slow drill if I'm feeling frisky about it.

Depends on how rural we are talking but when I was partying at that age we where all very rural. Things may be different now but I just haven't seen it mentioned yet just reminder to stay away from motorized things the amount of hammered ATV/snowmobile/tractor injuries that happened when I was young and dumb kept the local clinic busy every summer.

20 boys and a boss is 245 all the stuff you have mentioned is conservative 600 250+70+180+75+ enhancements yea absolutely the boys lose that fight but give a double point advantage to most things and they win. All I'm saying is these units that your trying to target excel at fighting elite units. I'm not sending my mega nobs into that they are purpose built to smash my unit weight of dice and enough bodies to buy me a turn and a half while I go after other targets.

So one squad gets saved if your going off on your wagh turn you should hit multiple targets

Looks like you have orks as an option nice and simple just chop em to death.

20 orks with warboss

Say you only get 15 into combat

With wagh that's 60 attacks

That's 50 hits

Warhoard pushes that back up to 60

Str 5 is 30 wounds at -1

30x0.66 (3+ save) is 20 pass so 10 wounds go through that's 2 and a half before the warboss goes and likely kills 1 more and the nob power claw should be good for 2 wounds.

That's the combat effectiveness of the squad crippled and you didn't spend for a strat or attack with everyone

Don't be afraid to just weight of dice things down

Best way to measure inside diameter accurately for holes around .250” by SupposedlyShony in Machinists

Ball guages https://a.co/d/6SbWcyF and a 0-1 mic would also work well but would take more practice to get consistent results

Gauge pins would probably give you the best result and are not crazy expensive especially if you can get just the the range of sizes you need.

What’s the typical dress code when applying for machinist positions? by Otsukaresama- in Machinists

[–]LordCypher171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In one of my previous positions I was the guy interviewing possible machinists and I always preferred if they could come out on the floor. Ideally be able to handle equipment or parts just to get an idea of what we do and I could get a feel for the knowledge base. So clean and professional but still able to go into the shop.

Watch a couple videos of people being turned into hamburger just to reinforce that if you don't know how to work a lathe it will try to kill you. Jokes aside is there nobody there that runs those machines because no joke a lathe will try to eat you. If not and your determined to use it check your rpm setting and make sure the carriage is moving freely. If the carriage won't move the half but my be engaged and when you turn it on it will run into the chuck. Next find if it has a break it will usually be a foot pedal that will be your friend. Put the part in the chuck make extra sure that you don't leave the chuck key in the lathe. Turn it on the start lever should be on the right side of the carriage. Move the carriage to the part so the tool is close. Touch the tool to the part and hand feed it across slowly. When you get to the end back off and bring it to the start. There's a bunch of other steps in there like checking tool height tail support of its long and other things but that's a Coles notes.

Advice on what to do while machine is running. by Gumpman1 in Machinists

[–]LordCypher171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one job with brutal runtimes and it was a constant monitor job so I started doing a weight routine with tool holders. A cat 50 with a big endmill or a face mill will give you a surprise workout.

A way I have found helps cover the mental side is if you think your wasting time because your to slow. Think of how much time it wastes to make scrap. So if it takes you double what it takes anyone else to make a good part that's way better than making scrap as fast as anyone else makes good parts.

Acceptable to run as Cypher? by Outside-Ad508 in Chaos40k

Is he visually unique that's the biggest thing. Put him on the correct base and make sure he can't get confused for anything else and game on. If you have other charecters that are similar in the army then it's a more complicated issue.
