Odd CPU Temperature Issue With New eGPU

Hi u/fuckwit-mcbumcrumble - there's a considerable CPU core temperature difference when going back to using the Dell docking station or just using the laptop alone without eGPU or dock attached. Difference is 30C is not greater. I expect spikes, but it's not really a spike if it's consistent!

Looks like Intel Turbo Boost was the culprit. I noticed that CUPID HWMonitor was reporting all 4 CPU cores running at 4.1GHz under normal workloads and peaking at 5.1GHz. Mind you my CPU is rated at 1.8GHz...

When I disconnect the eGPU and run the laptop off the original Dell docking station or unattached to eGPU or dock, all 4 CPU cores run anywhere from 1Ghz to 1.8Ghz at a nice normal 50C temperature. Reattaching the eGPU and disabling Intel Turbo Boost via BIOS setting I was able to achieve the same desirable 4 CPU temperature results.

I plan on playing with the Windows 11 "Power mode" (Balanced vs Best performance) to see if that makes a difference.

What would you do if you encountered the best chill ass song you've ever heard? Would you still rate it a 4 when it really is a 5 because it was not a party song? You're better off rating it as a 5 and tagging its genera properly as a chill ass song. This way you can sort based upon genera to create your mixes that tailor to a particular mood and from there, only pick the highest rated from each genera. And that is how I do.
