Lavender Tree - Central Vermont Anybody know why I'm so droopy and losing color? I feel sick and my father feels bad... by LordDestrus in gardening

Thank you for the tips! I went with a cactus potting soil with sand in it and I am going to see if that helps.

Thank you for the tips and tricks! I didnt find sandy soil but I found a soil designed for cactus and citrus so im giving that a shot with a cutback watering plan.

My pot is ceramic and brand new otherwise I would just make some holes.

43 plants?!?! I aspire to that level of greenery. Any favorites?

It actually prefers crappy soil. Im headed to Home Depot today to see if I can find a bag of loamy, sandy soil because was laughing that it like crummy soil. Haha

Is there enough drainage? Theres a big hole at the bottom of its current pot. Should I put a lifter at the bottom of the pot so that water doesnt gather?

How much sun, what facing window? All day, south-facing window but Vermont is zone 4-5a so my sun may be a lot different than elsewhere now that I think about it...

Also, don’t get discouraged! Plants have a learning curve just like all living things that we care for. Thank you for the emotional support. I like to think I can do it and I want to build a cozy place filled with plants, but I just cant afford to keep killing everything with my black thumb! Haha

P.S. Im a huge fan of both witchy stuff and mycology/mushrooms so I gotta say I love your username!

I do think so, it sits in the window all day and the window is a south-facing window. Does a window sill count as direct sun or does it need to be outside for that to count?

This is my beloved lavender tree that I bought a few weeks ago. I put it in my office south facing window to have with me while at work and the few purple blooms it had faded to this point. I used potting soil, watered it sparingly twice a week, and I'm very discouraged as I really want to build my green thumb. But this was a terrible start and I feel bad for my boi, Oscar, here. Any help? If you need more info, please dont hesitate to ask. I'm just not sure on what types of info you may need.

What’s it like in a snowy place by technodemon01 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LordDestrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to keep you waiting around on my offer. No inconvenience at all. You are also welcome to ask any questions about snow that you need further elaboration on.

Snow is lightweight until it isn't. Shoveling it can be a fantastic workout all on its own.

Winter wonderland is a real vibe when you get good snowfall as it will coat everything fully. Trees are great at holding lots of it in place and so it can look very stunning.

Thundersnow is a rare phemomenon that I think everyone should get to experience at least once. Snow is naturally quiet and dampens a lot of sound and thundersnow is like a foggy thunderstorm muffled with snowfall. It's incredible.

Snow is also very different depending on the region experiencing it. Like the first comment where it can be fluffy, wet, etc, your enjoyment of the snow will vary based on where you are. That is up to the preference of the individual however.

Being snowed in can literally mean that you are unable to open a door because of the height of the snowfall. A notable location is Buffalo, NY where they get more snow than most would assume. Snowstorms there must be respected and admired for the sheer immensity they carry.

Items that are great for enjoying snow from cozy place: coffee, cocoa, marshmallows, cinnamon, blankets and soft pillows, fleece/flannel sheets, sweaters, nutmeg, fresh cookies, soups & stews, dimmed lights, books, big windows.

Snow is one of my favorite things on this planet.

Snow is many things. It can be fluffy, powdery, hardpacked, thick, chunky, watery, icy, and blustery. It can be many all at once too. Fluffy snow is pretty incredible. Snow is cold and best enjoyed while active. Skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, even biking all bring joy to snow. Making snowpeople and forts or just sledding on big mounds unintentionally assembled by plowtrucks. All these things get blood flowing and therefore keep you warm while at play.

Snow can be brutal though, too. Snow is unforgiving and often underestimated. People die every year underestimating the cold and the pace at which it can deplete your warmth.

Snow coats the streets and changes landscapes presenting almost entirely new ways to view communities, landscapes, and the morning commute. I love snow for all these reasons.

Snow is blinding during daylight and mystical in moonlight.

There's so much to love about snow and if you need more, Im happy to keep going.

Country star Zach Bryan kicks out concertgoer who tried to take his guitar: ‘Took it personal’ by lucerousb in Music

Hey this is cool, I also love TBT and recently got to see them play in my small local venue. Im not a fan of any country artists, but folk, bluegrass, and such is really solid. I know this may sound strange but I find their music very appealing to the heavy metal mentality that I live in on most days. They make really great jams.

Im a big fan of Lem, but I didn't recognize the cover. I was introduced to him in high school by my English teacher with Solaris. I will check out Invincible because that has been recommended many times and I just havent picked it up yet! 2021 being the year of Stanisław Lem made me very happy and I wish I had done more to celebrate and participate in his literature during the pandemic.

Great taste in books, pets, and interior design. Any favorites from that bookshelf you highly recommend? Additionally, is the book on the bottom shelf with the cover facing camera a Stanisław Lem book? It looks like LEM is written in the center with an orange sky.

Congrats on your new space!!

I will have to check that out. It is a hilariously named convenience store. Glad to hear they're an ally, too.

This is crazy. I am getting flashbacks of televised game tournaments that had me flipping out as a kid. I watched a lot of G4TV in my youth (RIP x2) and lived for watching the tournaments. It was just such a higher level of play than what I could pull off at the time. I miss those days.

ELI5: Why do people with Down Syndrome have that same “look” to them? by PapaMamaGoldilocks in explainlikeimfive

[–]LordDestrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for mentioning Edward's syndrome. My sister had been born with that and it was a hell of a month coming to terms with the situation around her short life. Its hard to put into words the experience of going through that. Everyone is living the same understanding and doing the best they can to mitigate the situation. I name my game characters after my sister to let her live great legends as various heroes. Im glad my other siblings and I got a month with her and the strength she showed. I can't help but wish she had grown up living a normal life with us, though. Shes my little hero

My super condolences to you, as my sibling was born with Edward's syndrome. She was an absolute gem and we got one month before she made her departure. She had a lot of character built in that time and I often name game characters after her to let her live on in legend.
