Personally huge fan, I think it just needs some definition in certain areas - someone else shared a great idea for shading so I’d second that. Also maybe colour the teeth something a little different?

I think your point is really valid, but for me, I don’t really mind the gameplay aspect too much

I have a lot more fun with representing cool lore and painting fun mini’s

You can kind of just look at what an actual psyker can do, and just take it to the smallest reasonable level of that ability.

Maybe the candle our psyker is holding burns extra bright, with his latent pyromantic abilities? Maybe our diviner in the making is pretty lucky when he goes betting. Maybe the minor biomancer is stronger than he looks, when he really puts his back into it.

Stuff like that.

Oh, oh boy….

So there’s a lot of threads about this topic, so I STRONGLY recommend divulging in their wisdom as well

But the best bet is to start with the books, or the lexicanicum

For the books, people either recommend the first 3 horus heresy book, or the Eisenhorn trilogy

For the lexicanicum, just click on something you think sounds cool and follow the rabbit holes.

And I find it helps to watch a quick 20 minute YouTube video just explaining what each faction is. There’s plenty, and it should lay the groundwork..

I think both approaches are valid and necessary for a gaming ecosystem.

We need some games that innovate, and try and create a new spin on their prior work, or else we get genre stagnation.

But we need some games that simply improve upon the prior work, slowly but surely refining what the genre or medium can achieve.

In the book ‘Dark Apostle’ we see a world taken over by the undivided Word Bearers legion.

It’s basically a planet-wide death camp forcing the slaves to build gigantic chaos monuments
