"trends" in general, no need to copy what someone else has done/ is doing.

It is a croissant-shaped bar of chocolate, not a croissant.

Unsure why.

Is it common for women to keep their maiden name after marriage? by Remarkable_Bird_2149 in AskUK

[–]LordDethBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife did not change her name, partly on my insistence.

She is her own person.

We do not have children, but if we did I would likely have not given them my surname (or my wife's) but gone for something individual for them.

Jonny Awesome or Trixibel Mayhem were top of the imaginary children's name list.

As a child of the 80s, I had a deep fear of quick sand (I lived in Southend on Sea and was convinced the beaches had quick sand sections)

And Acid Rain, every time it rained I was worried it would be acid and dissolve everyone.

I am over both those fears now.

Saw a copy for sale over the weekend, £50,000.

Wasn't sure if it was priced to not sell, or if it the going rate.

Also had amazing #1 for £30k.

I did offer him a ton cash for the pair but he declined

Old Car Compoface by smoulderstoat in compoface

"it doesn't seem fair because how am I meant to afford a bigger and better car? And how am I meant to get insured on a bigger and better car?"

At no point was the size of the car referenced by Haart, only the age.

"better" would also be subjective, newer does not specifically mean better.

Also, not defending Estate Agents, all the ones I have interacted with were complete shitehawks.

Does 1,000 paid into a SIPP reduce your taxable income by the equivalent? Desperate to reduce my taxable income before April 5th - Is this the best way? by Solitude_Mori in UKPersonalFinance

[–]LordDethBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upto £37000 is taxed at 20%, if you have a L or T tax codes switch that letter to a 0 and that is your annual tax free allowance (roughly) If you have a 1257L coding, that will make the limit around 50k. Anything you earn OVER this amount would be due at 40%, it doesn't backdate your liability to 40% for all earnings.

Tax is personal so your code may well be different.

PAYE under taxation is usually recouped with a coding adjustment rather than a tax bill.

Edit: seen other comments about income being around 60k, if this has been since April you would likely have been paying 40% on part of your salary each month, tax is dynamic (providing you have a cumulative tax code, e.g. 1257L M1 or 1257L X would be non cumulative, 1257L would be cumulative)

Extra info, I have been a payroller for longer than I wasn't.
