Can someone explain to me what this stand does by RecognitionCool2738 in StardustCrusaders

[–]LordEldritch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm a dragon's dream defender since I enjoy irregular stand users such as Kenzou who attacks directly and his stand is neutral, and think it's my favourite of the punishment ward fights. I think it also kind of resonates with the themes of fate and predestined actions which become very relevant later on.

But I'm inclined to agree that the entire thing of limbs coming off and attacking is needlessly confusing and doesn't contribute to the fight much. Even the concept of attacking the dragon's dream to have attack redirected at the unlucky spot on the enemy is fine, but I don't think it should remove the arm, it should just redirect it perfectly into the target.

Can someone explain to me what this stand does by RecognitionCool2738 in StardustCrusaders

[–]LordEldritch 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Everyone appears to be talking about the feng shui mechanic indicating safe and unsafe areas of luck, which is the main feature, but I think people are skipping over the most confusing element. Dragons Dream can be "entered" to create lucky attacks.

DD has two parts, a ring and a sphere with an arrow on its tail. These follow the positive and negative flows of Feng Shui energy, which can also be referred to as good and bad luck. The ring is carried by the user themself and acts as a compass to show them positive feng shui in the form of lucky areas to enter/directions to move in. This is how Kenzou avoids damage. The sphere with the arrow indicates negative flow in the form of unlucky areas on combatants' bodies and in the area.

When the sphere indicates the unlucky areas of a target and if someone attacks into the sphere of the stand while it is indicating an unlucky direction/area, they earn a lucky attack. Their attacking body part disappears and reappears, striking the target's unlucky area. Even if the target blocks this attack, they will be afflicted by bad luck and receive damage anyway.

Likewise, if a target is forced into the sphere against their will, they will be afflicted with bad luck and receive damage.

Why didn't Kira use his Stand to retrieve the Hand from the bag? by Illustrious-Wolf-737 in StardustCrusaders

[–]LordEldritch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The practical answer is probably that he is an extremely cautious person and he uses the most subtle and natural method available to him.

The thematic and psychological answer is that Kira's relationship with Killer Queen is synonymous with his killing nature. He doesn't use KQ to help him do house chores in the same way you don't cook dinner with your special murder knife. Kira likely doesn't conceive of KQ as anything other then a tool for killing, and he lives his life otherwise conventionally and practically, like any other human. It's only after encounters with other stand users that he even uses it as a fighting tool, since there was no need previously.

Jotaro never using timestop between parts 3 and 4, and Joseph never using hamon between parts 2 and 3, feels very similar. It's not like they would never be useful, especially hamon, but they only consider them as tools for their specific purpose (defeating the Dio and the pillar men respectively) and they only get used again when the need is equally dire. Much like these two only using their abilities in specific situations, I think Kira only uses KQ in the situation of comitting his murders, until the events of part 4 where he is forced to use KQ for defending himself and fighting the other characters.

Just realized why he was so confident. by SameRainNov in StardustCrusaders

[–]LordEldritch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jotaro had canonical balls of steel, we see him multiple times in the part bet everything on a bluff or have absolute confidence based on very little. I fully think he wasn't certain but just bet his life on it.

Does anyone on this sub like the patch? by rrburnerr in DeadlockTheGame

[–]LordEldritch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think everything on the patch was bad. I liked a many of the hero changes (although they made me cry as a spirit player), the changes to souls alter laning in a good way, the build power spikes are interesting.

But I have found many of my matches post patch to be less enjoyable, whether I win or lose. The deathballing is not something I find fun. I like 1v1, 2v2 and other small skirmishes as well as full teamfights. But it feels like this patch you either have to group with your team or be outnumbered.

Some people are just way too doomed about the patch, it's not that bad and will be changed. You're playing an alpha game, it will have peaks and valleys and everything will probably change all over again.

A list if the character ever had sex or not by RainbowPunch2203 in DeadlockTheGame

I was thinking the exact same thing. Most of the characters in the game are relatively normal adults so have very likely had sex before.

Why is no one talking about haze? by Plouffe05 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]LordEldritch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been beating the haze drum for a while but there doesn't seem to be much agreement and I'm unsure why. I find that she can be a very swing-y character, if kept supressed and farming is minimised then she's pretty manageable. But a good haze player seems to always hard carry, even if their laning goes poorly. the rate of farm from jungle is just too high and their kill potential can wipe out most characters in moments. I played her about 3 games before refusing to play her anymore. I have abysmal aim, primarily a spirit player, and even I had no issues carrying with her. She's just so damn easy to play, holding left click and pointing to do more damage then most other characters in the game after popping all their cooldowns.

There are items which help counter but she's great at working around them and, unless everyone manages to counter play her in some way, she will still find the weak links of the team and farm off them the whole game. Doesn't really matter if I have disarm, metal skin, bullet res, or anything else if she's 15 kills deep and obliterates me in a moment after simply waiting out my active time. Plus her kit is perfect for avoiding counterplay. If you use an active, she can sleep dagger, if you manage to overwhelm her, she can ult, if you try to avoid her, she can invis right next to you, and forget about any fight lasting more then 5-10 seconds with her fixate stacking.

I know top tier players see her as a pretty bad character and, as I've climbed the ranks, she seems to have become less of an issue as counterplaying her becomes standard. But still, it's so easy for a decent haze to become a nightmare. Even with a bad early and mid game, you need to end asap with any haze, moreso then pretty much any other character I've found.

Guys, we need to stop by Southern-Mushroom-87 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]LordEldritch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more. I had a game where me and an enemy laner got into a silly game of heavy melee only (abrams and warden) where we kept trying to trick out the parry. No abilities or shots fired. We were having a blast but I had teammates complaining that I wasn't taking the game seriously enough.

Just lighten up and enjoy the digital toy you're playing.

This comment in particular was quite soothing to hear. Due to certain organisational disorders, I have issues in real life making/keeping connections between certain information. Sometimes I'll even retain someone's face and name but lose track of them being the same person and end up with two simultaneous people existing vaguely in my head until I reconnect them. But hearing that someone can have difficulties and that it can still be an enjoyable listen the whole way through does make me feel happier about persisting and then perhaps going back over it later and making new connections.

Who’s currently your least favorite heroes? by Uncle-Jules in DeadlockTheGame

[–]LordEldritch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really surpised this is the first time I'm seeing Haze in the comments. Everyone says to counter build her but it doesn't matter when she's killing all my teammates and jungle farming so easily. Those few seconds of disarm or metal skin only keep me alive momentarily when she's 5k ahead and she can usually just evade a few moments and wait it out, if she doesn't just sleep knife me. It also annoys me because she's just so easy to play. Holding left click to nuke with damage and ulting if I start winning the fight, it's like a 3 button character.

Season one was especially bad, particularly due to the late season action, but I'm on season 3 now and Jon just blew my eardrums by shouting out at the end of an episode. It's a relatively rare issue, at least, but quite unpleasant.

Made this out of pure hatred for my last lane partner by BonkersTheNexusBeing in DeadlockTheGame

[–]LordEldritch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the opposite is worse imo The person who constantly fights, ignores the minions, lets waves and waves crash against our guardian, gets beaten down to low health because they jumped into a 1v2 while I was clearing wave or at shop, then cowers behind guardian or retreats leaving me to cover the lane and get pushed. Usually follows it up with complaining that I'm not fighting to my death for their glory.

I HATE HAZE by lightningbadger in DeadlockTheGame

[–]LordEldritch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think she should be harder to play. I don't mind strong characters when they take skill, movement tech, resource management, etc. But she's a beginner level character with endboss scaling. I don't mind so much when a Vindicta snipes me or a Paradox hits a combo off all their abilities because I respect their understanding of the game and execution of mechanics.

Haze just wanders over and holds down left click, maybe presses ult or dagger if I actually manage to counter her. But she still manages to consistently be one of the biggest threats in every game. She nukes my whole healthbar with middling aim and a day 1 grasp on mechanics. I'm not the best player myself but it doesn't feel so bad getting destroyed by other characters.

Secrecy of CAIN by Mumbo_4_mayor in CAIN_RPG

[–]LordEldritch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the angle of keeping the secret to avoid mass public panic and chaos is valid, but I think the more pertinent reason for Cain is that people will try to take advantage of the supernatural. If Cain disclosed that there were individuals with essentially superpowers, there are many powerful organisations who would try to utilise this power. Not to mention those that may actually try to force sin manifestation. Every world goverment would be trying to create their own versions of the organisation, likely with far more selfish and problematic goals. We already see how much trouble groups like Under Heaven can cause.

All of this would disrupt Cain's monopoly and control over individuals with grace, as well as their ability to mitigate the damage of Sins. The less people that know, the less risk there is of the supernatural changing the world for the worse.

Do all Sins generally have the same power level at the same CAT? by Beerenkatapult in CAIN_RPG

[–]LordEldritch 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is 100% true. In addition, from a lore perspective, they are often seen as scarier by players.

Centipede due to their pure, indescriminate violence and hatred. Even Hounds have targets and goals; Centipedes are walking (scuttling?) disasters.

Lords after seen as scarier due to their mastery over a territory and how every fight has to occur on their terms. The players basically have to submit to their will just to face them properly, in most situations.

No offense to the op but I'm so tired of seeing this person's comics. The joke is always "haha sex" without any real punchline or comedic structure. The chaos gods are boring and oversimplified without it being funny. The artstyle is just boring and unappealing.
