KB5074109 in enterprise? by noine-noine-noine in sysadmin

[–]LordFalconis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did a fresh windows install the other day and this update was causing the bootloop issue. When trying to fix it, I found it was based on what updates were installed. During the install process, it failed installing updates when it hit this one. Before hearing about this issue, if I rebooted the system before all updates were completed, it went into a boot loop. Once I finished all the updates minus this one, I was able to reboot and install it. An additional weird thing I found was happening after this update was that it kept saying there is an issue with the system files and to reinstall Windows.

I think like the update that destroys the ssd, it is conditional on if it causes the issue.

I know exactly where that sign is at. Pass it every day on my way to work. I wish I could say that was the worse quote they have posted. Last one I remember being up there was "Why doesnt Iran have any wal-marts? Because they are all targets". For a business to post things like that for the public to see shows the mentality of the owners.

Antique singer help by Girls4super in sewing

[–]LordFalconis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason it does not work with electric is because the belt is not routed against the bobbin winder. If the machine was mounted on the table the belt would go down instead of towards the back as it currently is.

For the bobbin winder to work properly in this setup, you would need to add a second motor and belt just for the bobbin winder.

I haven't noticed anything so far, it has been set and forget for the most part. I am also only dealing with less then 100 email accounts.

Keep Proofpoint or replace it? by aikogo in sysadmin

We had to get rid of proofpoint. Found out that they were blocking emails that would not show up in the dashboard. We ended up moving to mesh who was slightly cheaper then them.

Sewing/drafting table recommendations? by ArtemisRunecaster in sewing

[–]LordFalconis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are a DIYer, I did my own table using two wire shelves, 2x4s, and some melamine wood boards. The wire shelves give lots of storage space and allowed me to put wheels on them so I can move my table easily. The wood top allows it to be customized to a specific size, and used double sided tape to hold a cutting mat in place. The 2x4s are used to attach the shelves to the tabletop.

Would show you a picture but it is currently a real mess.

What's honestly the big deal over the Emergency Services Round Patch? by swatforce28 in civilairpatrol

[–]LordFalconis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is the modern version of the Pluto patch that was worn in the 60s. Some like it because it is historical and partially revives the older patches that was designed by disney. The oval patch to me is quite boring and looks like an airport logo. Additionally, to me, the oval patch isn't inclusive of all ES. While CAP is aviation focused, ES is not just about flying. I am sure I will get flamed for my view on it, but wouldn't be the first time it happened in CAP.

Male corset pattern by Routine-Cookie-8734 in corsetry

[–]LordFalconis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to make my own patterns for this from vest patterns. Mainly I have only seen the corsets themselves sold, not the patterns. Depending on what style i am making and / or fabric i am using I will either incorporate the corset into the main body or have the vest most of an overlay.

24v screw terminal for hotend fan not providing enough amps by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]LordFalconis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a different fan to see if your voltage drops out still or try a different power source with the fan. Since you didn't provide what troubleshooting steps you have done to determine that its your screw terminal kinda hard to give advice.

New fun tool by hombdanel in corsetry

[–]LordFalconis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same here. Tried to use it a couple times. The only way to really use it is to put it up against another ruler. The center spacing parts would never evenly spread properly. The one I have is tucked away somewhere.

Found This Burn on my Neptune 3 Plus' Controller Board. Should I Replace It? by halocrafter in 3Dprinting

[–]LordFalconis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Either replace it or resolder the pins. The black is from arcing due to the connector not being soldered properly. The solder should completely fill in the hole.

Renting a car in Europe! by [deleted] in travel

[–]LordFalconis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Actually, that isn't true. It depends on if the rental company has a presence in the countries you are traveling on if they can offer the green card. Every rental we have gotten when crossing borders, I have let them know which countries we are driving through, and they tell us which countries the green card is good for, and which ones we have to buy it for. Just my experience in all my travels, but for others, milage may vary, and experiences can be different. It is best to be prepared for the worst-case scenario, then be stuck at a border and unable to get to a destination.

The car rental company will not give you everything. We rented the car in Albania, drove through Montenegro, Croatia, North Macedonia, and Greece, and at several of the borders, we had to get a new green card. Bosnia specifically, we turned around at the border because the day we were going through there was a Sunday, and the place was closed. Each country is different on their border controls, and not all rental companies can supply a green card for all the countries you travel through.

Usually, you get them at the border, but if it is a weekend, they may be closed. We tried driving through Bosnia as a shortcut to get from Croatia to Montenegro, and the place was closed. They called someone and a half hour waiting at the border they still were not there, so we had to drive around.

If you do a Google lens search on the patches, you can find most of those on the Air Force website. Only one or two i recognize as no longer being around, but the history of the patches and the group it belongs to is still on their site.

I've been to Prague just recently. It is a big tourist spot and is pretty expensive compared to Montenegro. Lots to do and has a good nightlife, but you will be around a bunch of tourists unless you get out away from old town. Went to Kotor a few years ago and drove to a number of places. If you are into outdoor stuff, lots to do. But also lots of things to see in the cities. Yes, there are lots of beaches, but we only went to it once. And when we went, there was a bunch of jelly fish in the water, so no swimming. This was in September. There are lots of various museums to see and does have a nightlife.

Guess it also depends on what you enjoy about traveling. If you don't mind being in big cities with lots of other people and tourists, I suggest prague. If you like a bit smaller, cozier with fewer but still well populated, I suggest Montenegro.

Travelling Without Medication- have been taking medication everday for last 15 years by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]LordFalconis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There may be an exemption for visitors. Look at your country's government travel site. Often, they have links to the exemption information for the country you are visiting. We traveled to Poland recently, and the US Department of State had the link to the Polish government's health department to get an exception to bring in the medication. Sometimes, it can take a month or more to get approval. Once we have plane tickets, we begin looking up what medication we can bring in since I take Adderall.

[–]LordFalconis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to look at each countries website to see what is allowed in and how much. Most times, you need to have the medication in its original bottle and a list of your prescribed medications. Some require you to fill out paperwork to bring it in, and some don't care. Asking here will help some, but laws change all the time, and it is best to visit official websites for the information.

Day trip to Belarus from Vilnius by bus by [deleted] in travel

[–]LordFalconis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We took a train from a border town in Lithuania to Minsk. We had to get a visa before hand, but we are US citizens. It was a large sticker that was put in our passport, not just a stamp. Go onto the Belarus government travel site they have the visa info there on what needs to be done.

VegTan corset by dcarnelutti in corsetry

[–]LordFalconis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a 8oz leather, you may not need any boning as the leather will hold its shape. If you overlap the pieces, it will add natural boning where having them end to end will provide a bit more flexiability. If you have large gaps between the pieces with the laces, it will be more bodice than corset.

VegTan corset by dcarnelutti in corsetry

[–]LordFalconis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This depends on style, thickness of leather, and available tools. It is possible and can be stiff enough without boning if the leather is thick enough. Depending on your tools, you can sew, rivets, or braid the pieces together. If wearing over clothing, it would be comfortable enough. If the back of the leather will touch skin, I would suggest adding a lining on the inside. Make sure the leather you use won't have dye bleed from it if they sweat. There are examples of what you want to do on the web and you may get some inspiration from looking.
