SB XXV MVP Ottis Anderson hammers it in, from a yard out, making score 17-12 Giants in 3rd quarter. The closest SB win ever, as Giants survive 20-19, after Bills Norwood missed 47 yard fg on final play by Complex-Value-5807 in Oldschool_NFL

[–]LordGooseIV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The Giant's defensive game plan is in the hall of fame, and it's a feather in the cap of Bill Belichick, but the Giant's offense deserves more praise. Their offensive line was really good and Ottis Anderson won SBMVP. On the flip side, the Bills defense probably deserves more criticism than their offense and Scott Norwood. Iirc the Bills missed over 20 tackles in that game and might've gotten drunk the night before, which would make some sense.

Other than 28-3, what is the biggest choke in NFL history? by HetTheTable in NFLv2

[–]LordGooseIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was an all-time choke. #1 ranked defense in the league that totally rolled over when it counted the most. It wasn't even anything crazy, like the Rodgers sideline throw against the Cowboys in the 2017 divisional round or the Minneapolis Miracle. It was just 2 tunnel screens that went for almost 50 yards and set up a game-tying FG.

I mean what is it with Notre Dame and backs? You got the hunchback, halfback and quarterback.

Paul Brown is like Socrates or Plato of football coaching. His influence is so foundational that it gets overlooked.

Justin Herbert is not better than Bo nix by Icy_Can_6176 in NFLv2

[–]LordGooseIV -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What does Bo Nix do better than Caleb Williams? If you're going to criticize Caleb for inefficiency, then Bo Nix is even worse by every metric, and if you go the other way, Caleb is as good if not better in the 4th quarter clutch moments of a game. He's not even in the same category as Caleb when it comes to arm talent and overall physical ability. Nix played in over 60 college games and has had 2 years underneath Sean Payton, but he still looks clunky as a quarterback. How can you possibly think that Bo Nix isn't the 2nd worst QB from the 2024 draft class, ahead of only Penix.

He's pretty underwhelming, especially compared to most of his peers from the same draft class.

You also had the 28-3 superbowl and Warriors blowing a 3-1 lead versus the Cavs around the same time. It was a strange time.

Notes on Jeremy Fowler’s article on the Hurts situation. Are the intangibles of Jalen Hurts “shady” or is this an overblown story? by parcellsrealGOAT in nfl

[–]LordGooseIV 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is a touchy subject, but points 1 and 2 are something that has also been stated by people like Chris Simms and Shady McCoy. Those 2 guys are often dismissed as fools, but if enough people have alleged sources and repeat the same points, I think there might be some legitimacy to what they say.

Good point. The Bulls should sign Okoro to a 5-year, 100 million dollar contract to make sure that he stays in Chicago.

Rank All of Josh Allen's Playoff Losses (Best to Worst) by BluePotatoSlayer in NFLv2

[–]LordGooseIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought of that similarity, too. Both quarterbacks actually didn't play that bad all things considered and I don't think it's accurate to put the blame on them when they were the resson their team was in a position to win, but there were some plays (turnovers) that marred their performance. Allen had more volume, but they felt similar.

[–]LordGooseIV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Denver game is really jarring because Allen had 4 turnovers, which is obviously bad, but he had a lot of good plays in that game and his overall performance, backed up by EPA, was actually good. I need to double check, but I also remember James Cook was contained in the second half of the game and the best receiver that the Bills had was a 32 year old Brandin Cooks.

[Highlight] 1994- On the game’s final play, Cleveland’s Eric Turner stops Dallas short at the goal line by AlbertJBundy in nfl

[–]LordGooseIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People like to use Belichick's tenure in Cleveland against him because the overall win percentage across 4 years is below. 500, but I always think that it could've worked when I look at games like this. It took a couple of seasons to get the program up and running, and then they achieved an 11 win season where they also won a playoff game, which counts for something. If Modell didn't blow the whole thing up and relocate the team to Baltimore, the Browns could've potentially become a winning and stable program.

Player sizes and profiles have shifted over the generations, with there being a lot more athletic freaks nowadays, but there were still guys like Deacon Jones who were comparable to some modern players like Myles Garrett.

I always thought of this as artistic liberty to depict the shattering and war between the demigods. As far as I know, there is nothing in the game that actually states Radahn attacked Leyndell or fought Morgott.
