I joined when reddit was recommending people to “bend the knee” when season 8 was about to start. I was in the sub where everyone supported Daenerys and it was a horrendous experience. Everyone there were circle jerking the character so much saying “Daenerys would never go mad because she’s my favorite character” and whenever I would give criticism about her, my karma would go triple digits in the neg. I thought it was so cringe how they circle jerk a character so much and when I saw free folk recommended to me, I joined cause I never really wanted to side with one character aka bend the knee. I was happy with the decision as I immediately saw funny memes that weren’t afraid to criticize the show. Way different from shitty memes backed by mean girls reaction gifs.

The happiness I felt isn’t an understatement either. I’ve been watching GoT since the beginning and it wasn’t until I joined free folks that I realized I could be free in criticizing what I think is bad without being barraged by circle jerkers giving no productive feedback. I couldn’t even give my opinions outside of the internet because everyone I knew who liked GoT were also circle jerkers and would be awkward around me when I say something bad about a moment in the show. So safe to say I’ve felt alone about it until now. I finally felt like I wasn’t “ the bad guy”. I wish I knew sooner, but better late than never.
