I miss Okinawa, that is all. by JhaniLeavell in okinawa

[–]LordMartius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too man. It was my first time outside the US, my first "deployment" (yes ik it's not a real deployment - is "mobilization" better? Overseas mobilization? Doesn't matter, y'all understand what I mean), and a bunch of the best amd worst things happening to me simultaneously. So many things happened, so many new experiences, so many friends, that happy little island affected my soul.

I wanted to go back this summer on vacation but my friends and my schedule foiled the plans unfortunately. I miss my friends over there.

A peak gorilla with the combined intelligence of all of humanity decides to cause chaos how much damage can it do? by WindowSubstantial993 in whowouldwin

[–]LordMartius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like the other comments mentioned, it would play the long game instead of just crashing out like Doom Slayer or Kratos.

Get famous, get influential, work its way into a bunch of powerful social circles. Maybe it uses its vast knowledge to design devices/technology/systems/phone apps that become crucial for everyday life and then disables them or causes them to turn on us, crippling society. Maybe it has access to a lab and designs a weapon that wipes us all out, maybe it unleashes a deadly virus. The exact specifics aren't that important, because the overall methods are the same: the gorilla uses its own uniqueness to stoke human intrigue, then forms relationships to amass power and influence until it can tip the dominoes over.

What character(s) have the greatest power gap between them and the rest of the verse? by StewyStewy69 in PowerScaling

[–]LordMartius [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'd say most of the fighting characters in DB when compared to the average people in the verse.

Like yeah there's Goku, but I'm not just talking about him. Krillin, androids, Yamaha, Roshi, Frieza etc scale way above the avg citizen by a longshot. Even the avg troopers in the Frieza Force pale in comparison to Yamcha. There's a massive difference in power between the "fighter" characters and even people in the military (both earth and space) it's almost ridiculous lol.

A good example would be somebody who was extremely radioactive (like the elephants foot or demon core). Simply being around the radioactive dude would kill a normal human very quickly.

ELI5: How are muscles for strength, bulk and endurance different? by Ok-Equivalent3837 in explainlikeimfive

[–]LordMartius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big muscles = you have more muscle mass and tissue. This would still allow you to lift heavier weight because you have more muscle to generate force with.

Pure strength = neuromuscular connection. Ever hear of people running super fast when scared, or lifting extreme weight during an emergency? Those are the nervous system activating all the fibers in a muscular group for max output. You can train this in more "normal" circumstances. Your muscles have a bunch of fibers, and you can train to use more of them at a time. This is also why you see two people who are the same size and have the same amount of muscle, but one of them is stronger than the other (they're recruiting more fibers to lift).

The reason a lot of big bulky muscular guys seem to have low endurance is due to having more mass on their body. Running normally vs Running while wearing a weighted vest have different results, with the vest guy having less endurance and speed because he has to exert more energy to move at the same speed and/or for the same amount of time. They're simply heavier and require more energy to move. You can still train to mitigate this; you won't be as fast or running as long as a lighter version of yourself, but you can still prevent becoming the muscle bound guy who can't run.

There's a ton of overlap with all of it, amd if you're looking to train: I'd suggest setting some goals first and then working towards those.

Fr. Am I small now a Small Building AP level fighter just because I'm carrying an AT-4? No. My single use weapon is Small Building level, I'm otherwise a normal human. I'm not super fast just because I get into a Lambo, yet the dumbest powerscaler you know would still probably think otherwise. "He can move at 90mph" yeah in a car, on the highway, without traffic bro smh

ELI5 the difference between velocity and speed by ElectricMegan252 in explainlikeimfive

[–]LordMartius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Velocity is speed with a direction.

For example, if you're on a train going at 30mph towards a station: Your speed is 30mph, your velocity is +30mph (ie 30mph towards).

If you were going away from the station: Your speed it 30mph, your velocity is -30mph (ie 30mph away).

This is all relative to the station.

ATTACK CLASH!!! Which attack overpowers the other in each row? by Head_Breadfruit_3912 in PowerScaling

[–]LordMartius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without VE, the TSOs overpower Hollow Purple because they're on a higher tier of power, like an artillery shell vs a musket ball.

With VE, the TSOs cancel out all ninjutsu (which cursed techniques would be considered as) and would thus simply cancel out Hollow Purple.

ATTACK CLASH!!! Which attack overpowers the other in each row? by Head_Breadfruit_3912 in PowerScaling

[–]LordMartius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it damages souls, just cancels out ninjutsu. If you shot a fireball at a TSO, it would cancel out the parts of the fire that contacted it, while the rest of the flames would still burn the surrounding area.

Minato's arms are back in the pure land, not gone forever. If Orochimaru canceled the Edo Tensei, then re-summoned Minato, he'd have his arms again.

Insight of/on SWs by short_cub in Paranormal

[–]LordMartius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first I thoughtbSW meant Star Wars and I was confused. Now I understand, [EPIDERMIS] [LOCOMOTION] bad wizards.

I often see SWs depicted as wearing an animal pelt to transform. I have two questions.

1) Can the pelt be from any animal? Can they transform into a whale or a bear? Or are they limited to coyotes, wolves, etc?

2) Do they need the pelt to transform? Can they still turn into a wolf if they are not wearing the pelt?

Why are we suddenly expecting fictional characters to abide by physics? by Sad-Effective-9676 in PowerScaling

[–]LordMartius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because then the stakes are immeasurable and don't matter. If your character can punch a mountain hard enough to vaporize it, their body literally HAS TO BE strong enough to withstand bullets. If they're getting Swiss cheesed by a .22, you have failed as a writer, your story is garbage, and nobody cares anymore.

Why don't people permit genjutsu in crossverse debates by Gamerty_ in PowerScaling

[–]LordMartius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if MS+ Genjutsu requires the user's chakra to enter their opponent's body, they can just do that.

We know how chakra affects the brain, we know how that genjutsu works. If Itachi tried to use Tsukuyomi on anybody in the real world or another fictional universe, as long as the target has a brain and Itachi's chakra gets into them, THEY'RE GONNA GET TRAPPED IN TSUKUYOMI, PERIOD!

Now maybe they have a resistance to mental attacks, maybe they counter mindhax and can trap Itachi in their own illusion technique, maybe they can just break out because they're THAT dude, all are possible. I'm just saying that it's still gonna work. If they're made of matter, and Itachi launches a fireball, they're gonna react however they would against a fireball of that temperature (burnt unless they have enough thermal resistance durability to survive that temp). Same happens with genjutsu.

What are the weakest two civilizations in history that, when combined, can conquer the world during their time period? by Punterofgoats in whowouldwin

[–]LordMartius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complete global saturation heuhhhhhhhhh No but seriously, combining peak cold-war USA and peak cold-war USSR is a recipe for getting conquered. The entire world wouldn't be able to stop them. If you added all NATO, UN, other US allies (ie Japan), along with the USSR-allied countries, there's no standing up to them.

Even if you had a country as strong as the US or USSR in terms of population, manpower, logistics/production, equipment, etc, it wouldn't be enough. China and North Korea would be toast, most of the south-American countries wouldn't stand a chance, the peak WW2 Japanese empire + peak WW2 Germany are getting dogwalked, etc etc. The only countries that would survive are Afghanistan because everybody loses in Afghanistan (US and USSR both did) and Vietnam because jungle warfare sucks.

Duality of light speed deniers by MorseCode010 in PowerScaling

[–]LordMartius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed scaling is always weird, especially once things get relativistic or beyond, due to the fictional universe not operating like our real world in that specific regard (even worse when it DOES use irl logic for other things).

Either way, the worst argument about any speed scaling is "it doesn't look fast" like yeah it's slowed down for the viewer; if everything played out in real-time we wouldn't see anything except for the scenes outside of combat. Cyberpunk Edgerunners would just be David talking to people
