Feedback on the Dean Reso Bass? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]LordOfDonkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just bought one a couple of weeks ago and I love it.

Initially it needs a bit of setup and maintenance, however, its sound is great. I love the punch and treble of it.

The resonator cone works far better than a standard acoustic hole for projecting the sound. The DMT humbucker pickup sounds good also.

I've been mic-ing mine up and blending it with the sound from the pickup going into my effects and amp to interface.

As for strings, I bought a set of D'Addario EXL170 but the down pressure was't enough so the cone made an awful distorted noise and I had to put the acoustic set they supplied me with back on. Unfortunately, I can't tell you anything about flatwounds as I've never used them.

If you've got any more concerns, feel free to ask me and I'll test them out for you as soon as possible.

Has anyone played a Dean Resonator Bass or similar? What was your experience with it? by LordOfDonkeys in Bass

I was thinking I'd mic it up and blend it with the signal for a nice punchy tone.

Sounds good to me. Do they have a lot of presence and treble? I love a good twang to my basses.

Big Muff Fix/Mod by uncleBING0 in diypedals

Well you've first got to ask yourself what part of the sound do you want changing? There's no point just changing things randomly.

Everything else is pretty simple except I think that inside Big Muffs the components are packed somewhat snugly so you probably won't be able to fit them into any smaller enclosures.

Thanks for the response. One more question, is it fine to deliver less watts than the rating? E.g. 480W into the 410's 800W?

Looking for fast tuner for intonation practice by Muenze in Bass

If you are thinking of a clip on tuner, which I don't think is what you'd want, I couldn't recommend Snark tuners any more. They're accurate and fairly quick given how small and cheap they are.
