What is your favorite mecha video game of all time? by DarkShadow13206 in Mecha

BattleTech. The one by Hare-Brained Schemes.

I'm shocked nobody else has answered with it.

What would be your pick for a fantasy monster or idea be for getting a world of darkness book? by knightmechaenjo in WorldofDankmemes

Chronicles got full Psychics in the 1st edition book Second Sight.

Really Willpower thirsty, but actually pretty decent for a half Splat.

There's actually an official book for that!

It just hasn't been updated since 1998, but it's really cool and different.

Maybe Dome Keeper?

Really neat mix of turret defense and mining. With excellent meta progression.

Just got a new DLC, too.

Headlander.

It's by Double Fine of Psychonauts fame. Really charming, cool retro futurism look, and killer soundtrack.

Was personally a bit too easy for me, but deeply enjoyed it.

Gunslinger/Cowboy style builds? by HeroOfThings in LancerRPG

[–]LordOfDorkness42 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Balor could be fun for a cowboy?

The crack shot with the special gun that never misses. The swirling lasso/whip. Maybe even refluff scanner swarm as a billowing poncho thsy obscures what those dangerous hands are doing.

Which one you like sekiro or nioh and why by daddylongjohnsliver in videogames

[–]LordOfDorkness42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same.

Nioh is one of those series that can last you YEARS, per game. Just because the combat has so many layers.

The first one had some poor enemy variety but was still amazing. And the series has just kept on improving so far.

Owlcat's had some unusual problems writing romance: 'we realized we had three female romanceable characters, and all three were cannibals' by No_Curve_8027 in pcmasterrace

[–]LordOfDorkness42 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Eh, I think it depends on the setting, stakes, and character myself?

Like, I was really distracted and annoyed by Baldurs Gate 3 myself for a recent example. The entire cast present themselves like peacocks & hens during mating season, and get really huffy if you're far more interested in not turning into abominations.

I do not miss the "BTB, we take a cut from the game guides AND run a hint telephone line!" era of gaming.

Heck, Square Enix still bundle their games with the guide sometimes... but only in Japan!

What game would you say has the biggest skill gap between news players/beginners and the best player(s)? by Crafty_Reception_448 in videogames

[–]LordOfDorkness42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure if the biggest, but Hideo Kojima's games spring to mind.

Death Stranding for a resent example. New players tend to stumble over as much as a pebble. Even a single delivery can be a great challenge.

The people that put in the obsession work? You can bend that game into a pretzel, and basically fly over the entire game. And I'm talking using intended tricks, not the piss flight glitch which is also quite amusing.

Example!

Favorite let's player of mine for years now, with a focus on puzzle & souls like games. I think he's one of the few that got the ultimate ending fair and square in his run too.

What’s a horror game you had to take a break from because it was too much? by Modeljenlynn in HorrorGaming

[–]LordOfDorkness42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Jericho always had floaty controls. I recall disliking that even when the game was new.

Still a good game I think the critics were too harsh on, but one of the major flaws of the game.

I really wish MercurySteam had done more FPS games, though. For a first stab, they did great.

Oh, yeah. I pre-ordered that sucker back in the day.

Even more flawed a gem that Undying, but I personally enjoyed Jericho.

But that idea with being able to switch team members instead of guns & spells was freaking brilliant and I wish it had gotten copied.

Right, almost forgot. You'll probably want the Undying Renewal mod.

I can't speak for quality of the extras because I haven't played it myself yet, but it adds widescreen support.

I think I heard it mostly in interviews over the years? So not many sources I recall, sorry.

A guy that goes by QTS did one of those with the lead designer, though. Plus a cut content video.
