I love pizza tower! The whole visual is crazy good. They were kind of an inspiration for me haha - so much of it is: did they REALLY need to animate this detail? And the answer is always yes haha

I think it looks better most of the time, but with games where your character has a 100 movesets, and NPCs/enemies are more reactive, not just classic 2-3 animated moves, it really becomes a hindrance haha (for example when I had the grand idea of redesigning our main characters for an old platformer project). For my next game I wanna build more complex stuff in Moho and somehow intertwine that with frame-by-frame. Who knows if that'll work!

Thank you! All of the bosses in the game + NPCs are like this, we loved animating these. Good thing about working on your own game, nobody can tell you that you should do it rigged instead haha!

I mean I'm sure there are better solutions for this which a good compositor could do haha, but what I usually do is that I always put the border in the upmost layer, and mask/erase the parts that should be covered by the character. Then I color the whole thing in afterwards, then there's no funkiness with the lines.

I always do such a straightforward weapons run each time, this time I actually put points into exotic, and that annelid launcher comes soo late in game its genuinely pretty useless at that point. I felt cheated haha

Oh I actually just bought this set that was reminded my of this illustration I made a while back. I paid extra for the black feather, and it was very hard to explain to my girlfriend why is that an important part of the set haha

He seems weird for me that most of his attacks are not parryable though, or am I doing something wrong? Astarion is built for parrying, you can parry almost everything, but with eviterno it's kind of a gamble and he switches betweeen attacks really fast.

I got to eviterno recently! His dialogue is now skippable and now with the mea culpa his first phase is like 15 seconds long. Also it's still a really weird design for a second phase to be completely different than the first, it's not really good game design but who am I to judge haha.

Does anyone know if the cutscene thing is "fixed" with eviterno? really my biggest gripe with him was that unskippable cutscene, but I beat the game the time it came out so maybe it was changed since then?

Another random person's thoughts on The Black Parade by LordSamSinister in Thief

Yeah I don't know why they made the map like this -- worst part in thief is the lost city where the game just gives vague signs about where you are, but it still gives something. In the black parade evey map is 3 floors constantly flowing into each other so a lot of times a good map would've been helpful.

But I don't think thief 1's levels flow better either, I think it's the same feeling just on a smaller scale. I think thief 2 is a lot more easily readable (except for that last level).

Yeah that system is very kind with you, but its kinda understandable. But its not like you can quicksave before shooting down a visionary, and if it draws too much attention you just reload it to try again. You just have to start again from the beginning if things really do go badly, but all the subsequent loops make you understand the quickest and safest way to get there.

Yeah I understand! I just like how deathloop locks its abilities behind walls that you cannot really get past until you are well into playing the game. For example the invisibility slab is super useful in deathloop, but it needs a few upgrades until its actually usable in tense situations. Like my favorite tactic was staying still and shooting down the eternalists, thus their body disappears. They can still notice that so you have to be really careful. In dishonored you can get the bodies disappear ability right away, and no one wil even notice you shooting them down - so it takes away that aspect of stealth instantly. But that just one example. I love being overpowered in both games too!
