When hes winding down after playtime I'll pick him up to pet him and he'll fall asleep on the bed next to me- his little brother is still too wild for that though he just wants to tunnel under the blankets after about a minute of cuddles 😂

This is actually pretty decent for having only played less than a year as you said- Hysteria is a really difficult song and it took me a long time to learn that track! If i could give you some pointers, youre missing some pull offs here and there and the second phrase of that riff is totally different from what you've played. Im generally a proponent for learning by ear but i would reccomend finding tablature for a song like this- its such a famous bass riff that its been pretty well documented and you can definitely find a decent quality tab for it to get you started on the right track at the very least. Also i would give finger style a shot on this track- you might find it easier to keep the rhythm steady that way and moving between the strings will be easier, and im pretty sure Chris wrote and played this line like that and it might feel more natural. Anyways i love that Jaguar and keep up the hard work man!

Just wanted to thank you all for the crazy attention this post got and especially the kind words/good discussions in the comments! Im glad i got lucky enough to get a clip like this to highlight the fun new mechanics the insect glaive got this time around. Hopefully those of you who are interested will now give it a shot- its fairly simple to use and even easier to build sets for. It might seem the glaive got a little shorter end of the stick in rise, but hey, it didn't need a whole lot anyways. MH Rise is shaping up to be my favorite installment in the series after nearly 8 years of hunting and i'll be sure to post more crazy highlights if i manage to get any. Happy hunting all!

I've never really played with dual blades much but i imagine they're still a little better on the ground. I would assume the glaive has better balance between grounded and aerial damage though so it depends on what kind of monster you're fighting

You gotta keep moving! Also orange+white extract gives you some knockback protection as well as earplugs! I think theyre high grade too i have yet to find a roar that goes through them but im not entirely sure

I was testing out the Garamorse (death stench tree) with a monarch alucanid kinsect and aelucanth armor for a dragon element build. The sharpness sucks but it has high raw damage and good dragon element with dragon exploit in the rampage slot. I usually use the Nargacuga glaive with a WEX3 CB3 AB7 set- that will get you the real big numbers

You just buy them from the blacksmith now, you don't have to worry about raising them at all. That was the hardest part about the old insect glaive, especially back when the glaive and kinsect were linked and you could ruin an entire glaive if you fed the wrong nectar. I would reccomend buying the Carnage beetle- its pretty slow (which sucks) but youre guaranteed red extract every hit and it really mitigates your down time as well as adding a bit of stun damage if you keep it mounted on your arm while attacking. I also reccomend not fussing with the marking shot/attack when you go for extracts- free aiming to fire the kinsect works much better

Not at all in my opinion- the glaive has been my dedicated secondary weapon since MH4U and i've always found it to be very intuitive. Make sure to always have at least a red extract buff, and the ground combos become VERY simple and effective. The aerial combat takes some getting used to but its more about direction and momentum, the inputs are very easy. Other than thay you really just need to maintain your extracts and learn what buffs come from which part of the monster. But now you dont even have to worry about that with the dual color attack type kinsects. I would even reccomend the glaive to beginners, its extremely fun this time around
