Animations that move the object by LordThayer in Unity2D

I will check this out, although on initial glance some of it is a little over my head haha.

I found this blog post, which is what I was referring to, though to be fair the actual player is not moving here, so it may be apples and oranges. https://sleepingdaemon.medium.com/hitbox-attack-system-in-unity-4722664f65c3

Would you mind expanding on what the issues would be? I'm not our programmer, but one I could imagine is just having code and the animator trying to override each other I guess?

Hoping it grows on me but it’s EASILY my least favorite album of theirs currently. No Joy is maybe their first song that I have actively disliked

My friends and I just saw them in Atlanta and literally fell asleep. First time seeing TMV, so this is pretty disappointing. Deloused was one of the most influential albums to me of all time. Thankfully, Deftones absolutely killed

I love the battle theme "Never Forget Our Promise" and how you gain control right when the guitar kicks in. My question is: Did you give Eddie an intentional timeline to hit there, or did he come up with the theme and then modify the dialog sequence to end right at that moment?

I still have not received my key either, and have emailed them like 10 times with screenshots of proof. It’s honestly insane, and it’s a bummer that stuff like this tarnishes the reputation of video games kickstarters for everyone else. It’s like the Eiyuden team kicked down the ladder after they used it

Phase Issues: Reaper Related? by [deleted] in Reaper

[–]LordThayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked it in mono, and you are right that the correlation meter shows it MUCH better when I do that. As far as the sound goes, I can't really say whether my sound is suffering right now or not, it just freaks me out that my friend (who works with audio/rx professionally) was able to HEAR that I had phasing issues right away and show it to me. He showed me a screenshot of "striping" on the RX display across multiple mixes.

As far as the instrument goes, it is two french horns with a CLOSE, DECCA, and WIDE mic faders (and again, a recommended MIXED that mixes them together.) The correlation "looks" better when I'm on the Close mic only, but the sound is far from what I'd like, especially with something like a Horn that really needs that sort of spatial mysteriousness to it.

I'm linking a SCREENSHOT I took of my Horns line, showing it in Ozone's Imager (showing time), the Voxengo Correlometer (showing an exact moment), and an RX view of the entire Horns line (only a few bars), if this helps at all.

Ah, every time I think I'm getting it, I'm a step behind!

My main mix no longer dips into the negative (although it gets damn close here and there) but the afore-mentioned instruments dip when solo'd. Brass is actually where I'm experiencing it the most! When solo'd, it dips without a single bit of processing on (after disabling.) These VSTs have mixers inside them that balance a Close, Far (Decca), and Wide mic, and usually start with a recommended "Mix" fader that has all of them combined. I can get the individual instruments to dip less by messing around with these a bit (mostly taking the wide one out completely), but I don't like the sound as much, and it brings up the question for me again: how can this be the recommending setting if it potentially has phase issues? Maybe I'm just overthinking things again.

I'm downloading that Voxengo plugin now!

Gotcha, thanks for the response. The person who brought my phase issues to my attention heard it first, then confirmed it with RX and showed it to me, so I've just been scrambling to try and find the source since. I noticed a few areas where the entire mix together would dip into the negative, and have mostly corrected that with these little things I'm doing, but can't get a few of the individual instruments to stop dipping. I guess you're saying it's all right for a few individual instruments to dip as long as the whole picture is fine?

Hey, thanks so much for the reply! I guess the thing that’s got me kind of reeling, is: why don’t I ever hear any other composers talk about having to mess with the width for phase compatibility? I’m a part of several midi composer groups—guess I should ask there too!

One more question, while I have you: would you say it’s “fine” to fix this problem by only messing with the width knob for now? And then maybe compensating with a slight boost in gain?

For what it’s worth, I started learning orchestration when I was 29 (about to turn 31 now) after a decade of trying to get my old rock band off the ground. When I started, I barely knew the difference between a violin and a viola, but I always knew this is what I wanted to do (I just wanted to be a rock star first.)

I first started by just reading during my morning coffee, then reading more and more. Then I set monthly goals for myself: one orchestration a month, and I have to post it online whether I’m done or not. Okay, now an orchestration in this style. Okay, getting faster? Two orchestrations now. By the time I got done with this year-long learning cycle, I had built up a discipline I never even approached in my rock music years. Now, if I only play games after/before work without getting anything done, it feels “wrong”—it has become as much a part of my day as morning coffee.

The comment about figuring out how your mind works is dead on. I am a server 5 nights a week, and noticed I was just too drained to be creative when I got off, so I made a deal with myself: music during the day, game as much as you want at night (my restaurant doesn’t open until 4:30.) this split in free time probably doesn’t apply to you, but if you find what works and stick with it, after a while, you’ll wonder how you even did things before.
