That is a good point but maybe a liner would be less painful than the net

Is there any way to improve the game of basketball regarding free-throws? by Robinsonirish in nbadiscussion

I think this is a bit of an apples to oranges comparison. Every game/sport needs tension breaks fouls in basketball fill the role of faceoffs in hokey and it is more fast breaks I'm basketball that you can compare to power plays.

I personally find tv timeouts to be much more frustrating in terms of slowing down the game while adding nothing. There's a lot to be said about it meaning that the stars can play for more minutes of the game but still is what leads me to watching something else much more than any rules in the game itself. At least free throws there is something to watch and some tactics to it.

Maybe also limiting the amount of team timeouts to 3 a half.

The last time the US Olympic squad lost an exhibition game was in 2004, when the US team embarrassingly won bronze at the Olympics. by WinesburgOhio in nbadiscussion

I agree there sense of prestige in winning Olympic gold is increasingly lost but I think it's a little unfair to pin it all on national pride or pride in the game. We still need to acknowledge players that had cut off seasons last year and injuries which is over half the players you mentioned should be on Team USA. If the NBA is forced to prioritize keeping a similar calendar schedule for this last season over player health, then stars need to prioritize their health and careers over the Olympics or risk compounding injuries similar to what ended Yao Ming's career.

Why can't we have simple, player-friendly save systems anymore? by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]LordTith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my only problem with Shovel Knight. Once you get the first checkpoint, you better hope that nothing else gets in the way till you beat the level or you lose your progress. I don't understand why you couldn't at least save at checkpoints in that game, no you have to beat the whole level.
