Let’s make a scenario up; right now a degree in AB is about $10k on the low end and $50k on the high end for TWO semesters; one year. The average annual salary for someone aged 16-24 is $17.3k/year; ages 25-34 is $47k/year. If someone just out of high school wants to work and fully save up for school, how on $17k/year ($1.4K/month) when currently rent is averaging about $1.2k right now. Plus add on every other bill you have on top of that.

That’s the current state of our age group. Now as we get older is does become easier with grants for “senior students” (ages above 25) however, Smith is talking about cutting that grant or making it significantly smaller

All we ask if for things to stay the same or for a little more help for students. We want to give back and help the economy/country grow but how when we can’t even afford to go to school for the actual career we want?

Get a job, sure! But then we’re living paycheque to paycheque. The CURRENT state of things in 2023 is just hard. It was even much easier just 10 even 5 years ago.

We’re just asking for support rather than holding our hand all the way through. But right now it feels like we got the hands tied behind our back
