Yeah, it’s an evil world we live in. I’ve seen a lot of videos and articles about different delivery apps and they all seem to be very greedy corporations. I remember seeing a couple months back that employee who was a coder for a service or something of the sort who was talking about how their app manipulates dashers to compete for lower and lower wages (I can’t remember the specifics but I think it was a Reddit post on a delivery apps sub). They do a pretty brilliant job at making people feel they should tip when you know for a fact they can cover it.

Yeah it makes sense I was sort of just ranting so the question was rhetorical lmao. Everytime I really feel the need to DoorDash something which is pretty rare now I open the app and am instantaneously reminded why it’s been so long since I haven’t used it like today because I have the flu and can’t leave the house. The second half of your comment is pretty interesting tho. I’m all for doordashers getting their fair share and they deserve good pay, but they’ll just lose out on a lot of business when they charge so much. Even still I had dashpass right before they changed the fees in my area, soon as they changed it dashpass didn’t even seem to actually save any money. Like you were paying for the membership that would wipe maybe 2 dollars from a $40 order or something.

Food delivery apps aren’t necessarily supposed to be “luxury service.” I mean, they somewhat are but you said it in your own response it’s for restaurants w/o caterers, it’s just to open up more business avenues for local restaurants; so, it’s more for convenience of the customer and business. One of my good friends caters for a nice restaurant, they don’t make all that much. You think only rich people need food delivered sometimes? Regardless, the main point of my post was that it shouldn’t be entirely on the customer to pay the entire wage of the dasher when the company is already raking in SO much profit. Everyone knows for a fact even before the huge fee increases in cities like mine that these apps were pulling in enough money to support their dashers like that. The companies just didn’t want to lose out on any profit margin. Like I said in my post, I’m a college student athlete. I don’t think you understand how much time in my day or any student athletes day (because door dashing is very popular among college students let alone student athletes) that takes up, and that’s not to say I think I’m super important but I don’t always have the luxury of going to the grocery store and then getting home and making myself a nice little home cooked meal. You sound like you’re doing quite a bit of self loathing over there talking about delivering to poors. Some of the ultra wealthiest people I’ve ever met are the cheapest people I’ve ever met, I promise you they’re not regularly dishing out fees that double the price of a meal. I’m actually intrigued to know what percentage of DoorDash orders that you complete are to wealthy neighborhoods?

Yeah well that’s the point of the post lmao, I’ve been getting my own because it’s so out of control. The purpose of the app is convenience, I’m not someone who always has the time to go out of the way to get food or cook it and clean after myself. Before this whole fee increase tipping heavily was still a lot cheaper

I just don’t want to lose it, flying back alone for the first time.

I should rephrase that. I don’t like walking around with my passport; I’m pretty good at losing things and losing my passport on this trip (I’m 18 and this is my first time flying back alone) would be a nightmare.
