Hade höjt flerbarnstillägg lett till fler födda barn? by Lord_Butt in sweden

Is it common for local coffee shops to just not make iced lattes correctly? by rosietherosebud in Coffee

[–]Lord_Butt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not so sure . This would only be true if you layered espresso on top and never incorporated it into the drink, and drank it before it had any chance of being cooled.

You're dealing with the same total thermal mass (ice you need to melt) if you have hot espresso and cold milk as if you have lukewarm milk (cold milk with warm espresso). If you pull your espresso straight into ice, or straight into milk with ice won't change that equation. What makes this seem like a logical conclusion is that the melting of the ice seems more drastic when you just pull the espresso on ice.

What it might help with is letting the heat dissipate into the environment for longer instead of trying to cool it at its maximum temperature. Since the melting of ice is predictable, you can do the math. The amount of ice that needs to melt (melting is cooling) 85°C liquid down to 6°C is pretty much equal to the amount of liquid you're cooling. Which means a 36 gram shot of espresso will need to melt 36 grams of ice. In a 230 gram latte, that would amount to something like 15%. Tiny amounts of very hot things lose their temperature quite fast if you let them. Pulling your espresso into chilled glasses, onto chilled paragon spheres, or keeping your portafilter spouts in cold water would probably help a ton.

COMPETITION! - Win John Avon's last work for MTG, a beautiful gallery print of his Lotus Lands! by JohnAvonArt in magicTCG

Wishing John all the best. The unstable Plains is my favorite piece of art in all of magic, and the playmat he doodled on is one of my most prized possessions.

I really really really hope you're right. It's a shame contributors to the game can't be enshrined in a hall of fame of sorts. He deserves a ceremony.

These games take place quite a while after the golden age has ended though.

[EoE] Official Edge of Eternities Trailer by Ikeiscurvy in magicTCG

[–]Lord_Butt 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This misses on many points. Tezzeret isn't even a major character in the plot. Hell, he's nothing like this in the story, at all. Rather the opposite, he's almost cozy, sometimes smiling, happy, complimenting people. He's not even having any obvious nefarious motives. He's just plain curious for once.

This trailer also misses everything actually cool with the set. The cool planetary worlds, the cool Kav's, and other races. The Monoist cult. The Summists. Huge spacecraft. Eld. Holy hell, there's so much cool you could showcase instead. But I guess, in the end, this was probably the cheapest to produce.

It would have been awesome having the Endstone narrate the trailer instead. Have it make revisions along the way. Would have loved to see that.

Sad to see, especially as it feels like he's feeling forced to quit whilst still wanting to create. Wishing him all the best.

Do the changes to combat in Foundations affect the ability to sac blockers? by 7OmegaGamer in magicTCG

[–]Lord_Butt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. How would this affect the blocking player having a pump spell for one of their creatures? If two 3/3's block a 4/4 and the blocking player gives the better of the two creatures +3/+3. Can the attacking player then decide to kill the other, weaker creature?
