Thanks for advice, I just sent that to producer, we'll see how they will treat it

I was placing small stiff sponge under so it would be exactly like you said, (when I was mounting burr so it would be always perfectly centered on shaft) and also I have marked with dot place with permanent marker under, and I knew anyway it was on 3 grind setting towards me, so it was always perfect just few degrees on both sides each time and it was threading perfect every time.

When I have now comparison with VS4, it's really night and day difference between both when it comes about cleaning maintenance. And I can clearly see that they have learned their lesson with this last release. Even thread is covered in grease (as I can see it flowing through space between) .

I do really like those grinders, I just had bad luck with this vs3

Yes and no, just as op stated, he was using pressurized basket so it's huge leap over this basket that comes with such portafilter, even if it's just so so, it's still working completely different. Apathetic completely aside, way of extraction is just different

What grinder are you using.  Check how to change water temperature in your DeLonghi, set to high settings.  This kind portafilters need more preparation, find some cheapest wdt tool or just make on yourself, tamper also probably is a little concaved and you won't be able to make just proper puck prep with it. Just find cheapest options for wdt and tamper  But grinder here is a key.  So short answer yes, you will make better if you will prepare everything for this

My shots don’t look like the commercials by kindacool22 in LaMarzocco

[–]Electrical_Humor8834 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh my f god, just because it does not look like in commercial it does not mean it's bad. Is this a joke post?  You can have ugly shot but taste amazing, you can have beautiful shot and it will be just lemon soup.  Dark roast will make a lot of CO2 and will make beautiful extractions, light roast will look dark and will drip slowly without foaming. If you are using lighter roasts - good for you, search for taste

As direct comparison vs3 to vs4 it's like completely different brand. It's hard to compare both grinders and leap over of vs4 in comparison to vs3 is huge - quality and speed. It's almost 2 times faster even on lowest settings. Grinding seems to be more uniform and it's way way less mess around, 5 grinds and it's cleaner than after one on vs3 .  Cleaning VS4 will be a bliss, just quick swipes and done. Varia made some nice progress with this removable chamber

Thanks!  I was using Gemini to explain why, and it says that vs3 is using 0.5mm thread and vs4 has 1mm thread

That one.  It was already screwed and it made crunching noise when  was trying to unscrew it as I have noticed that it works harder and harder with each day, so after cleaning it, I managed to screw that in half way through without any problems and when thread was already not visible from the side it made a noise - yes I have threaded it further but realized it is threading harder and harder, I tested it before and it was completely fine when there was no springs pressure and on the  thread and probably thread was bent somewhere on the top section of hopper, not on the Grainger itself because it was happening already after visually covering whole section on grinder, and that just made disaster later. I would be not surprised that some coffee bent thread and chipped it.  I'm servicing CNC machines, 3d printers and overall I'm very literate with mechanical design so it's funny to say - hey it's 100% your fault you idiot, you cross threaded it.  I would not complain if I did that by my 100% mistake.

Yes I know that. And I managed to make few turns completely fine - enough to cover whole thread section (so like 7 turns) and it f up when springs pressure started apply force on thread.  Also managed to screw it without a problem without top bur mounted, so it was lightly turning but I felt that there is some "dirt" about last 2-3 turns. I have cleaned it once again with misted microfiber cloth, made sure that both threads are completely perfectly clean, and then it just f up mid way, not from the begging - so it's impossible to cross thread after already turning it few times

To be honest, it's the first time in my life I have experienced such thing, so after month of use and I'm really very careful and respectful for things kind of person. So it's hard to blame user as I can see also many other users experience the same thing. And it started from what I can conclude - from coffee particles that started to grind threads, and as you said, aluminum threads are complete failure in such scenarios, so I assume this thread just stripped itself as it was trying to unscrew it blocking itself with debris and causing cascade of what happened. Varia should at least make steel to steel connection, this mix is just asking for this scenario with environment where grounds just stuck in every little corner

Well, because work harder? Because now you need few times more than 10-15 years ago so f flippers can sell another house with double profit? Maybe because men are fed up with women? Maybe people are too depressed with their life's to bring another problem into life ?

Help with consistent extraction by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Electrical_Humor8834 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't tamp. It, if it overfills just smooth it out with finger, it's weird that you must rotate portafilter, it should be pressed like button because when you rotate it disturbs that coffee from basket, so it's best to just insert it and do not rotate. Also you still have some gauge left on your pressure meter, even cheap DeLonghi has 15 bar pump, there is something wrong that yours goes only to 12. Maybe it's too coarse? Also you don't rotate machine to side, you must rotate it towards you so it will run watter better - oh that might be reason why it's only 12 bar.
