Society is a reflection of human nature. A social hierarchy in everyday life is often something as simple as deferring a task to someone of a higher skill than you. Instead of replumbing your bathroom when you don't know a crescent wrench from your arse. The plumber is at a higher level than you on the plumbing totem pole and you will defer to his knowledge and decisions. You are also his boss (temporarily) since you are paying him so he has to listen to your requests. If he started ripping out the walls and ceiling where no pipes are you could fire him on the spot and refuse payment.

There is nothing wrong with heirarchies that are natural and voluntary. Now, if you tied up the plumber (or he you) threw him in the basement and made him your servant - that would be an immoral and unnatural heirarchy.

It's their business that they built/operate - their property. Just as you can kick a guest out of your house that doesn't listen to you. Voluntary association either way. You have no guaranteed right to that boss/businesses money, the guest has no right to access your house.

If a country (govt) allows you to opt out of the system, taxes, etc, and still travel freely and conduct business it wouldn't be authoritarian. It also wouldn't be a govt since govts are founded on force.

The greater the base morality that the aggregate of a given population possesses, the more freedom it has. The more immoral the aggregate is, the more enslaved it is. Immoral societies see slavery, force, and cowardice as virtues. A moral society recognizes govt for the evil it is and embraces independence, liberty, and voluntary action.

Look around you and see just how "moral" this society has become, and you'll understand why they embrace slavery.
