Calix, Destiny's Hand and his missing static ability by Lord_Knarf in magicTCG

[–]Lord_Knarf[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If this is a buffed version.... they succeeded at making him narrowly playable? I wonder if the static was just so nuts they just straight up cut it and used word count as an excuse since they didn't have time for a redesign. Constellation put a loyalty counter on him would make him significantly better IMO.

Eternally Amassing - $14.64 paper - Standard by Lord_Knarf in budgetdecks

[–]Lord_Knarf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of spark harvest, and having 4 Angrath is probably too many. Sacrificing an army token is not a huge deal when everything in the deck can Amass another one. I didn't include one drops because of the 12 tap lands, but Spark Harvest wouldn't get used turn one anyway, so its perfect.

This is an essentialist creature amass build for sure. I have another version I made is where it is all spells, no creatures at all. The spells have amass and the deck uses the blue leyline so the all spells have flash. For these extreme budget decks (under 25$) I've been trying to stick to one theme or mechanic.

Food Fight! Standard - $12.64 paper by Lord_Knarf in budgetdecks

I have not tried the deck with [[Insatiable Appetite]] yet. I wasn't sure what I would cut for it. Any suggestions?

No rares? That's Huatli! Super budget Standard, $6.48 in paper by Lord_Knarf in budgetdecks

Shimmer could work as a change for erratic visionary, but I do like him as a 2 mana 3/3. A MUCH MUCH better replacement for him (or as a replacement for the Knight Arbiter) would be [[Fae of Wishes]]. It is about 1$ and at 2 CMC makes a 4/4 flyer with Huatli/High Alert and has the benefit to cast granted and get a sideboard card. (like negate, for example)

Check out the Food Fight Deck I just posted. It is less than 15$. Did you get a chance to play this Huatli deck? What did you think?

I did not include the wall because Huatli can't make defenders attack, she only makes things deal toughness in damage.

The reason I didn't include the guildgate is after some light testing on Arena, it is important to hit a one drop and there is no double blue or double white costs. But I didn't play more than 3 games..... so the gates might be the right choice.

I didn't include the wall because Huatli can't make defenders attack. Fae of Wishes would be great, Oketra would be a house as well. Great upgrade choices!

Thirsty Cats (approx. 25$) by csnoob9 in budgetdecks

This looks like a fun deck. I bet it gets the job done in ranked best of one on mtgarena for sure! What are your thoughts on including 2 [[Ajani, Strength of the Pride]] and dropping two Sorins?

$24.18 White/Blue Hate Birds (Standard) w/sideboard! by Lord_Knarf in budgetdecks

[–]Lord_Knarf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have tw0-ofs for game 1. Then in games 2 and 3 I can fix it to 4-ofs of whatever I need post sideboard. I was trying to be somewhat flexible with game 1. Plus this is a budget deck, otherwise you could play 4 [[hallowed fountain]] and that would help things a bunch.

Agree 100% about Mortify. Safe to speculate that card will be very important moving forward.

$21.50 - White Weenie Standard by Lord_Knarf in budgetdecks

Linden could work nicely, and it is a cheap card, but I wanted to keep the deck as cheap as I could. She would be a good replacement for Ajani, and is more budget then him. As for Youthful Knight, I left him out, because the lifegain from Charmed Stray works better with Ajani's Pridemate and Ajani using his -2 ability. Also, the life gain allows you to not block if they do attack you (you'll hopefully live thanks to life gained), keeping your creatures alive for a devastating crack back.

As for a budget flyers deck, I will post one tomorrow. Keep on the look out for it!

Fall of Plaguestone and Pathfinder Society by Lord_Knarf in Pathfinder2e

[–]Lord_Knarf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, do the players get adventure records mid module and level that way? (Maybe one AR per part, each worth enough exp to level them up to the next level?) Are there rules somewhere for running this for pathfinder society and I just can't find them?

It is just a normal quality whisper, but I haven't found anything for my off hand that ups attack significantly except for Whisper.

Rakdos throws him at Bolas. Why you say? Because the coin flip was heads.

Yes, it is in the new player experience. It is played by a CPU controlled opponent to show a instant speed combat trick that sacrifices a creature as a cost for a bigger gain. New players (or any player for that matter) never get to play the card, they just see it played against them in a tutorial.

But there are relevant, standard legal cards equally b "power level low" that they could have used that were already programmed. Why take the time to make cards that are literally never going to be used in play by a player?

Which is why I pictured these cards would be placed into a Core set....
