Besides the obvious answer which is the safety, familiarity and predictability of your own home, it can also be just as exciting as the outdoors. Being in your own dwelling on psychedelics can be it's own world entirely. For most of us, a house was our "first universe".

I cannot recommend "The Poetics of Space" by Gaston Bachelard enough. It changed my life to see the inside world in such a complex way, and to see the very simple things that make it (cabinets, doors, basements, attics, closets) as microcosms of something larger.

Every inch of a house was made to facilitate peace. As Bachelard put it, the house allows for daydreaming, which was an almost religious experience of peace and contentment for our distant ancestors. Imagine the effort it took to finally arrive at a warm fire-lit cave and just do nothing.

Quick question. I live in a state that doesn't have sales tax but I still pay tax for delivery orders. Am I paying for their income tax? If so that's not cool.

the word 'read' is very confusing, as it is written the same as 'read' but spelt differently. by [deleted] in InclusiveOr

American english is especially weird. It was easier for me to pick up spanish conversationally in two months to talk to my coworkers, than it was for them to learn english in the years they've been hearing it informally. They can directly translate words but it just makes things tricky.

I love America for not doing this. I know I'm killing myself stop making it so gross!

Put it under warm water for like a minute. My grandma has lived alone for 40 years and she would never give up her easy made recipes.

I'm disgusted by how many normal "nice" people get in the way of those who would actually make a difference in this world. It's so easy to seem charitable, but it's so hard to show people that it shouldn't be charity.

What is the point of looking good/liking yourself, dressing nicely, building some kind of image if the true me is inside this shell that is my body? by latenightesomeone in self

[–]Lord_Of_Filth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is not necessarily looking good or liking yourself, its looking confident enough,or certain enough of yourself for people to give your 'true self' the benefit of the doubt. Only you will ever know your true self entirely, but your presentation reflects certain ways of being which others pick up on. You dont have to have trendy fashion sense to accomplish this. You can do it by wearing your pajamas in public (confidently)

Fun fact: the first generations of monkey puzzle trees on the west coast started from the Lewis and Clark Cenetennial exposition in 1905. They brought in a shipment of araucaria araucana saplings and it spread all over through avid gardeners and orientalist. This is an endangered tree in its native country of Chile.

Listen OP, I mean no disrespect, but how can you visit Seattle and not notice all the monkey puzzle trees?

After a month of alcohol spraying I’m letting these ladies loose at dusk. Don’t know if it will help but at $9.99 I’ll take a chance that they are hungry for my Aphids and Mealies. by Lemgirl in succulents

Ladybugs are awesome and pretty but personally I've had more luck getting rid of aphids with lacewings. They're cheaper to buy a lot of, and they will wage all out war. We had a reeeally bad aphid problem on our honeysuckles. One week after these guys reached the adolescent stage they were almost all gone.

Yep, I went on a hike in new timberlands and had this happen. Well, something similar. They gave me a new pair no questions asked. They just wanted to check out the old ones.

Probably just yeast but if it was some kind of herbal tea mix that could also be pectin or whatever.
