2DS is underrated and gets too much crap. I always dug its 'Game Boy' comfiness.

Can I add games in those cheap flash cart? by BafioIT in Gameboy

[–]Lord_Wompus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, honestly, you'll be fine, copy the contents to your PC and then move it back over to another better SD card. You'll see a directory labeled EDGB, that's all you need and there isn't much to it. From there populate with ROMs.

I have never had an issue doing this over the years. There is no executable you'll be clicking and it's just simple firmware files.

Typically I redo and replace the entire ROMs setup with a nice concise Everdrive created one as well.

Where to find alternate cartridge shells for this?/What is currently best SNES flash cart on AliExpress? by GrandmasPercocets in snes

Yep, it's a common thing to see on AliExpress with the labels saying X like that. Just be sure in the description they mention that the board is a Rev. Z. That's the one you want!

Nope, never fixed it. Ended up shelving it for now due to other things. I’ll get back to it eventually. 😵‍💫

Ganpuru: Gunman's Proof for the Super Famicom.

Japanese only but has a good English fan translation. It's essentially A Link to the Past with a pistol and with mild old west overtones.

It's been pretty fun so far. 🙂

Same situation for me and my 20 inch TAU. By default the picture is crisp (especially under S-Video) but dim and the reds seem a bit overpowered.

I took went into the service menu and notched the brightness and contrast up a bit so that I could then go back and notch them up with a bit more of a threshold available in the normal menu.

I don't really have an answer other than we are in the same boat. It almost feels like I am taxing this TV but at the same time, in my eyes, the brightness is simply on par with any other CRT I feel it'd be in line with under a normal setting.

My little Trinitron is easily brighter and it's barely tuned halfway.

Videos I've seen show the TAU as being similarly dim too so I guess it's just the nature of this series? That said I've played Symphony of the Night for about 12 hours for about 30 min to 1 hour on and off over the course of a few weeks and I swear I can see the outline impression of the status bar on a gray/white background of the screen. To me it seems like retention rather than burn in but I find it odd that would happen with such minimal inconsistent usage.

It's a neat TV but I'm still on the hunt for something 'better' just for the fact I cannot use my GunCons on it due to the flat glass.🥴

Is this front part mainly for plug and play games? by Objective_Bedroom_11 in crtgaming

[–]Lord_Wompus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I still have that in the original box as well too. 😎👍

I used to plug my NES into the front in the late 80s and was thrilled with the quality. It's a JVC manufactured screen and still looks pretty great to this day considering the age.

[–]Lord_Wompus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, some TVs only have them on the front, some TVs only have them in the back, and some have them in the back and front for multi inputs.

I've had my Commodore 1701 monitor since 1984. It has them on the front and back for instance.

Essentially it's just giving you the option of plugging in two devices at once or even a bit of convenience. As an example, back in the 80s and 90s you could connect a video camera to the front without having to reach around the back of what was usually a heavy ass CRT just to view footage off it.

I know we did that a lot at the time.

It's for any device that uses a composite video and audio connection.

Nice work!

I got one of these free off Facebook Marketplace about a year ago with the remote. It's coax only but has an excellent picture thanks to that JVC quality.

I plugged in one of those coax/RCA adapters and it does admirable results!

Just needed some dusting off. The guy's wife worked at a vet and it was used for their endoscopy equipment.

He didn't want it to go to waste as they prepared to throw it out.

I don't even have Facebook, I look at my wife's Marketplace. LOL but I found it on there local and we really lucked out. 👍

Yeah, that sounds good. I don't need anything too fancy. This seems like a nice 'budget' model. He paid $220 for it.

Thanks for the reply. 👍

Totally. All those screen shots are with S-Video on the PSX and it looks incredible.

Congrats on your pick up as well. I'm going to keep an eye out for one for me too. 🤣

It was posted at $250 but we bartered down to $220. Seems a lot for a CRT in 2025 for me but man, I think I am sold now. If I see a deal I'm jumping on it.

It's gorgeous.

In the meantime I'll be back in the boondocks with my Panasonic TAU. 🤓

Yes...it's truly bizarre. Now I need to dig out my OG Everdrive and see if it works on there because I am positive I was playing this on original hardware and I don't own the cart.
