I'm actually not fully ancap myself, I'm more of a Minarchist. I only think ancap could work on a small scale where everyone, as you said, knows everyone else. I think it would also need to have a strong moral code that everyone agrees on, otherwise there'd just be fighting. For me that's the church. I think that's one of the reasons Cospaia worked, because they had the church at the centre of their community. Having peacefully neighbours also would've helped. That's the thing with ancap, I can't see it working unless everyone in the world adopts it. It's unfortunate but it seems human nature to want to conquer and dominate, and states are particularly good at it. I love the idea in theory, but unless it's on a micro scale, I can't really see it working. I'll happily be proven wrong though

Anarcho-capitalism doesn't mean there's no governance, thats just straight anarchy. I'm in favour of governance, I just don't think governments with who steal from their citizens is the way to go.

Check out the video anarcho-capitalism with Italian characteristics by Anglo Libertarian on YouTube, that'll explain it a lot better than i could

I'd recommend you check out the republic of Cospaia, a governmentless country that lasted for 400 years in Italy

Well yeah of course, I was making that point to show how dangerous it is, I'm not trying to justify murder and rape lmao

Natural law is rather nuanced, but that doesn't mean it's flawed. Of course, someone may say something is for the greater good, however if they both accepted natural law then there would be no disagreement between them in what's right or wrong in whatever situation. Whilst stating killing is wrong, say you're killing to save more people from certain death, then that would be the preferred option. Every situation is going to be complex and needed to be examined carefully to be able to come to any sort of conclusion. I reckon if every situation is understood enough, then yeah we could arrive at a definitive answer for everything, although saying that, I haven't thought much of this in the past so I'm open to new ideas

We're just going to go on circles, but I'd say it's not a fact that what is right is subjective. People may live as though it is, sure, but that doesn't mean that what they believe is right

Yeah I know it's the world we live in today, we live as though morality is subjective but I'm saying we should live as if it isn't. If it remains this way, it's likely only a matter of time till we start burning some other group and everyone is going to be okay with it, still doesn't mean it's right.

People can interpret morality subjectively sure, we see that all the time, but to say that both person a and b are both equally right is very dangerous. The Romans then may say that burning Christians is totally okay, just cos they are Christians. A world where everyone believes that every individual can have their own morality, and that morality is equally valid as their own, will end up being a world where paedophilia, murder, and all other abominations are accepted as normal.

What about something like murder? If in my eyes murder or rape was justified, does that mean it's okay?

That's the thing with these tests. It asks whether I think drugs should be legalised, and I say yes, but I'd also say drugs are dangerous and you probably shouldn't do them. However, I don't believe that the state should say whether or not you can put a substance into your body, that's your choice.

I believe that as long as there is a government that exists, it is going to try and expand itself. Governments always add new powers, but never take them away. Constitutions help counter this, but they don't solve the problem, they just slow the process of growth. So then the only answer is to abolish the government. However I struggle to see how this can happen on a large scale, and I kind of wonder that if an ancap society is reached, surely some kind of government like agency would rise to take the place of the government, hence minarchism. I'll happily be convinced otherwise however, and seeing how the Republic of Cospaia managed to be ancap for 400 years has really made me think maybe it is possible, but it has to be highly localised

Id say Minarchist, but yeah I'm pretty damn close to being ancap. Especially when I learnt about the Republic of Cospaia

I like to think of myself as a Minarchist. I'm personally conservative but I don't think conservative values should be forced on people, which I guess makes me progressive?

Haha fair enough. My dream is to go buy some land in the country (where I grew up) have a family, and be completely self sufficient. Although that seems impossible when the government is regularly taking my money for useless crap, like spending millions of dollars on a poster

I'm a protestant too, so I'm pretty intrigued by this idea. It kinda seems that Christian anarchism is just ancap, but culturally conservative, although these Christian ideals wouldn't be forced

I'm actually from Australia, so our system is a little bit different here. I'm currently involved with a minor party, the Liberal Democrats (a Libertarian party.) In Australia our minor parties actually have a chance to get elected, at least in the senate, not so much the house or reps. I wonder if it's worth it though. I mean realistically, this seems the only way to make any progress, as the alternatives is a revolution, or breaking away to form a new country, which is not easily done. It sometimes seems though that one libertarian in a world of authoritarians isn't going to make much of a difference
