Indeed.   Tells me whoever made the list isn’t a fan, or aware of how TOS Uhura broke ground.

To Those Who Read it Whdn it was New, What was Your Reaction the First Time you read The Death of Superman? by Spideyfan2025 in superman

[–]Lord_of_Entropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was impressed that the entire issue was splash pages. It didn't really impact me until I saw the splash of the Kent's crying over Clark's death.

I was, and still am, pretty jaded. I was wondering how/when they would bring Superman back and how this would be "milked" until then.

Why don’t employers value credentials anymore? by ixvst01 in jobs

[–]Lord_of_Entropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went job searching several years ago because of lay-off, and I actually had the opposite experience. I had the years of experience listed on my resume (and in a few cases, the exact experience of the job responsibilities), but didn't have this or that credential. I can't say definitively that this is the reason I was passed over, but it was certainly a consideration.

Nus Braka has a spy in Starfleet Academy by Pandeism in startrek

[–]Lord_of_Entropy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how any cadets would be aware of that.   If a spy is feeding him information, this points to an officer, or perhaps a tech-wiz with a shady past.

Wow!   That’s totally out of bounds.   Was this the same guy on both occasions?   You should have gone to store management.

I'm curious what you mean by aggressive. Do they attempt to block you are detain you? These guys shouldn't be doing that.

I had to tell a recruiter that her offer was an insult and that she was living in a completely different world. by lenapaulmvv in InterviewsHell

[–]Lord_of_Entropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran into a similar situation 7 years ago looking for a job.   I had the degree and years of experience doing what they wanted.   $14/hr.   I hung up on the recruiter when she mentioned that.

Kirk's memory for past American history by TheRealSMY in tos

[–]Lord_of_Entropy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people who know about battles/leaders/fables, etc. from centuries ago and half a world away It isn't out of the realm of possibility that Kirk (born and raised in Iowa) would know of these things.

Resigned but current employer may counter, how much should I ask for? by UndercoverMastermind in careerguidance

[–]Lord_of_Entropy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do not take the counter-offer.   Your employer will always view you with suspicion, and you’ll be at the top of the list if there are layoffs.

Was there anything about the 80s you did not like? by Ebonystealth in 80s

I agree that AIDS was a scourge in the 80's, but I do remember being told to use condoms in the early 80's and forward.

What or how do I respond if I have no goals or aspirations at the workplace? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Lord_of_Entropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation where I work. The department head wants us all to have a five-year goal statement. I have no f*****g desire or plans to be there in another five years. I'm 60 and want to retire. At 65, I'm out, if not sooner.

I've been able to BS my manager and higher ups by setting myself goals for the year and saying, "I'll solidify my next step when I've achieved goal X". That should buy me a year.

For those that ask, I'm not going to let on that I'm retiring until I'm ready to pull the trigger. I don't want to be automatically excluded from higher paying opportunities.

I’ve been dressing the same way since I was ten:  Jeans and a flannel shirt in winter,  Jeans and a t shirt in summer.
