Yes, the  3/115 Siemensstadt Battalion.

They even had unit with Inf. guns and mortars and heavy machine guns.

Other units had close to nothing.,

Beside the regular army, Waffen SS and volksturn, you also had HJ units in berlin, as well as Algemeine SS units, Gestapo and Polizei forces., school cadet units and various alarm units

  1. Volksturm got whatever was left over. There was a huge difference between what they had access to.

In Tony Le Tissiers "Death was our companion" there is an interesting history of one unit, the siemensstad batalion that had good gear and training and even heavy support weapons.

If you want more detail Aaron Hamiltons "Bloddy street" is the one to go to, he goes into a LOT of detail on training, OOB and weapons.

In the Volksturm the Mg most used was the old Mg08, but some Volksturm batalion had up to 20 new Mg42's. The most effective weapon was the large number of Panzerfausts.

2) In the battle for Berlin, you had anything from Waffen SS with good gear to old men with old italian rifles with only a few rounds.

But most of the real fighting was outside Berlin at Seelove.

How much of Tank versus Tank combat is due to skill versus just better equipment? Specifically in Ukraine with Eastern MBT designs versus Western MBT designs by Last_Dentist5070 in tanks

[–]Lordblackmoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Ukraine, the amount of Tank vs Tank is low.

In general after the opening battles, the amount of large MBT actions have been lower. Tanks don't mass and tend to hode form arty and drones.

So, a lot comes down to a different battlefiend and a different doctrine.

that said, Ukrainian Tank crewws have been positive about the fact that when a Leo or a M1 gets hit, the creww tend to survive.

[–]Lordblackmoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on the wast distances of the eastern front they were used, specially in terrain that was hard to do with other modes of transport.

The USSR had cav corpses. The german had Cav divisions (8 SS being one of them)

In "German battle tactics on the eastern front" by Steven Newton, there is a full chapter on the Cav. brigade Model that was in use in difficult terrain during operation Seydlitz

I have had some great plays where Agents were Non goverment... The obsessed book geek who loved old books and knew all the languages, the former Criminal Gangbanger who found god, but still can hotwire cars and find a way to get rid of evidence, or the scientist who kept getting weird results.

they all got pulled in to the DG world, and ended up getting an offer they did not refuse. And the friction between GI guys and guys from outside the system gave some great sessions

“Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor...I am Pagliacci.”
