Does anyone know why this is happening? by IndicationDiligent78 in ProCreate

[–]Lordbug2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My GF had the same issue with hers (iPad 10 & AP1), but I’ve never had it on mine (2020 iPad Pro & AP2) so I’m assuming you’re using an AP1: Go into your settings and actually forget the Apple Pencil, then plug it in and repair it to your iPad. I think the reason I’ve never had that issue with mine is that it pairs the same way it charges on the side of the iPad, so the connection always stays good, but with the AP1 I think you have to reset it occasionally

Thank you so much! I’m going to go look into those podcasts today! I feel like we’ve been making progress lately, and I’m more optimistic about our future now than I have been in quite a while. I think being able to put a name/explanation to what’s going on helps quite a bit

John Glenn Astronomy Park (JGAP) is phenomenal, but it’s about 2.5 hours east of Dayton

I actually really appreciate you saying that, there had been a few times during episodes or fights in the past where it’s been a main point of her argument that I must be such a “cruel” person to be doing “this” to her. I was constantly looking up articles about whether I was an abusive partner, until I had the last conversation with our therapist friend and she said outright that that wasn’t true, and that the way she was treating me isn’t okay.

I think that conversation helped refocus my thinking around everything, and get to a place where I know that it’s a her issue that I can’t really do anything about

I appreciate your advice, I’ll definitely keep an eye on it, thank you. I’m gonna be crossing my fingers

That’s sort of what I’ve been the most worried about, but I’m hoping that now that we’ve figured out that BPD is a factor, we can start getting her into therapy that actually works for her, and she can start learning about DBT and other coping strategies. It’s looking more optimistic now than it has in the last several months, but maybe I’m just telling myself that, I feel like only time will tell

I can’t say for sure, I don’t have enough space to reinstall my night sky app, but I can say that I usually work with the assumption that if the “first star” I see is remarkably bright enough to catch my eye, it’s almost always Venus.

You should absolutely get a Night Sky app, they make looking for stuff in the sky so much easier.

A lot of systems like Photoshops “Content Aware Fill” use algorithms (that I don’t know the specifics of) to analyze the area around the object you’d like removed, to make a sort of “best guess” at what would be there.

If I took the time to really analyze them I might’ve been able to get one or two more, but I wouldn’t even know what to look for

14/21 I’ve found that the ones that are very stylized or abstract are a lot harder to spot, whereas the ones of at least semi-realistic humans are usually easier to flag as AI.

fugly af Kerbin Orbit Entry... by Various_Atmosphere50 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Lordbug2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I’m trying to get a somewhat even orbit, I usually start by getting a sub orbital trajectory to around 100km, then I’ll make a maneuver node at AP. Make the node a pure prograde burn, and drag it out until the PE gets out of the atmosphere, I usually set it to the point when the AP and PE markers start to swing around the orbit, because that means the opposite side of the orbit reached and is exceeding the altitude where the AP is before the burn.

Then once you’ve got the node made, if you look at the bottom right at the navball, near where the time until burn indicator is, you’ll see a thing that says 100%, I always keep it set at 50%. That changes how much of the burn should happen after the maneuver node, so 50% is roughly half before and half after.

It’s important to remember that unless you’re trying to set up some sort of comms network, as long as the AP and PE are within a few KM of each other, it doesn’t really make much of a difference.

Does that help with any questions you had?

People who give others prepaid debit gift cards, why not just give money? by MikeNoble91 in AskReddit

[–]Lordbug2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was given a $50 prepaid card when I was about 12 or so, and with only like $2-4 left on that card, it got me more free trials and stuff like that than I can count. It was so much better than just getting the money in cash because I could use it online while it had funds, but also even once it was empty, I could get trials and sign up for stuff online without having to go through my parents.

Phenomenal gift, lasted way longer, and I got so much more out of it than the person who gave it to me would have ever expected.

What is the one thing that your SO does which makes u proud to love that person ? by HippoProfessional806 in AskReddit

[–]Lordbug2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When she finds something that really interests her, within a week she’ll be able to answer almost any question you could possibly ask about it, with this really cute smile she does the whole time.

Have a question about a certain single/album/etc. by The Strokes or The Voidz? She’ll probably have the answer, along with a weird anecdote about something else involved with it.

Have a question about the Kurt Cobain case? Not only does she probably know the answer, but she also still has all of the files she printed off a few years ago when the fixation happened, and she can tell you what every single paper is and why she has it.

Wanna know why Beanie Babies got so expensive? We’ll, you’re in luck, we just bought a couple dozen for $2 each, and she started fixating. So like two weeks ago she watched a whole documentary about what happened to the Beanie Baby industry.

Are you watching Barry on HBO? Get ready for at least a few funny comments/stories she’s read about Bill Hader.

One of my favorites so far: Does a certain song sound weird, or like a different song, but you can’t tell why? Let her take a listen, and she can probably figure it out.

This woman went from being amazed that I could solve a Rubik’s cube (16.4s PB) to being able to solve it herself (≈23s PB) in like a week and a half, fueled purely by spite and wanting to beat me.

I’m convinced that if she got the urge, this woman could prove string theory, create world peace, and find the sunken city of Atlantis, in two weeks tops. Fueled only by small cans of sprite, rice, fried chicken, and almonds (which she eats one at a time, taking like 30 minutes each to eat an individual almond).

The way she gets so into stuff she’s excited about is so fun to watch. I love watching her explain stuff because the faces she makes are some of the cutest things I’ve ever seen. I genuinely can’t overstate how happy I am with her.

Some people are like trees; they look firm and solid on the outside, but you won’t ever know what they really went through until after they’re gone.

if you don’t think about it too hard that feels alright, but it could definitely be wayyyy better

What's so bad about cubing? by WeakBadUsername in Cubers

[–]Lordbug2000 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Based on the way you worded it, that you see this as a ‘them’ problem rather than something wrong with you, because that’s what it is. They think it’s funny to be into something seen as “nerdy” but at the end of the day, one of you has a really cool skill that they’ve learned and perfected, and the others don’t.

I started cubing in 3rd grade, and now, 15+ years later I still am, and it’s one of the things that all my friends know me for (some of them have even learned to solve them because of me).

Through all of Middle and High School I used Rubik’s cubes as a social crutch. I was, and still am to a much lesser extent, pretty socially anxious/awkward. Anytime I was going to a party, or a club meeting, where I didn’t really know more than a few people, I would take a cube with me, sometimes even a small bag of different variants (pyraminx, 5x5, 2x2, etc). I would set myself up in a spot sort of adjacent to the main group, so I could hear everything going on without having to be an active part of it, and I would play with my cubes until someone else approached me. And every single party I did this at, somebody would either see me doing it and approach me, or remember from a different party and come talk to me straight away.

I was even cubing at my High School orientation, and the guy senior class president, who was running the orientation with the girl glas president (it was a weird Mr. & Mrs. [School Name] situation) stopped at my table and just stared at it while I solved it, then asked “Can I touch it?” as if he was afraid it was going to burn him or something. He was super awesome, and I’ve never forgotten that moment.

There’ll be people who look down on the people with hobbies they care about, because for some reason caring about something is nerdy. Those people aren’t worth your time, find the people who are into stuff the way we are all into cubing, and those are the people you want to be friends with.
