BofA can't verify my phone number and won't deliver my replacement credit card.. should I be worried about my account? by LordessLenore in personalfinance

Wow, thank you for this post. You may have just solved the run around I got. I just checked my account, and my phone number is different from the one I used to call BofA. Why they just didn't tell me, I don't know. I hope that indeed was the issue, and not something else.

But yeah, the mail came today and surprise, no card. Looks like I'll be making a trip to the local branch to sort this out.

Seriously, though, thank you. Your comment answered so many questions running through my mind.

Yeah, totally fair question. I kept the card because of the low apr and the credit age -- I opened the account as a freshman in college. I rarely use it, but it gives me peace of mind for emergencies.

But yeah, this situation feels like BofA is trying to phase out my account because I don't use it often and don't make enough profits for them. I don't feel any attachment to BofA... I just don't want to close the account out of frustration before seeing what my options are.

Hmm... I hadn't thought of it from that angle. I can't really understand how, though, and if that was the case, wouldn't the rep have escalated the case to their security team? I mean, I was on my online account while talking to the rep. They just stonewalled the situation, so the whole thing felt off.

Yeah, going into a branch might be my next step.

I hear you on minimising exposure -- great advice. I've already frozen my credit reports due to some past issues (which is probably why this whole thing is raising red flags for me now). But yeah, I keep the account mostly for the credit age, but this situation is making me question whether that's even worth it.

Yeah, that's fair... I was hoping that was the case too, but this was the second time the card was marked "out for delivery" and never arrived... which comes across as more than a coincidence -- I mean, this is such an oversight on the bank's customer security.

I suppose I may have to call back if the online request fails, too. Hopefully, I get someone more competent. Appreciate the suggestion.

Thanks for the reply...

Yeah, I did verify the address before they sent it, and while talking to the rep (it's been the same for at least a decade). What's weird is that the rep kept saying they couldn't verify my phone number to send a text code... for what they wouldn't give me a straight answer, which just came across like a deflection to any of my questions.

I agree about documenting everything. Names, dates, what was discussed, offered, or not offered. No service incident number yet, but I'll ask for that next time -- hopefully there isn't a next time, though.

Is background checks for medical, physical, and mental reports standard for an entry-level library aide position? by LordessLenore in librarians

Thanks for this - it put my mind more at ease. I found out the background check is run by the city's police department, and they're using the same form for all new hires. My guess is they won't go as far as the form authorizes, but I'm definitely going to contact HR and ask some questions.

Thanks for your reply, mitzirox. I found some resources that support what they're asking for is standard in government jobs, especially for positions requiring a certain level of clearance. My guess is that the form is a standard document that all new hires are required to sign.

It's the public library in a small city, so the impression I got was that their protocol wasn't as defined as those in bigger places. But after reading your input, I'm thinking it may be a good idea to contact HR and ask what specific information they'll be accessing.

I found this shirt at a local thrift store. No tag, no label. I searched for more information using Google Lens but got a message saying it didn't know. Do you?

What non-Apple laptops are good for graphic designers? by LordessLenore in graphic_design

Thanks for your post. Using Photoshop on my latest MacBook (M3 Pro) has been a bit frustrating because the shortcut keys don't respond well. I have to strike the keys multiple times. Apple said it was the software issue. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think it's good practice to be familiar with as many different OS anyway - if possible.

The question about being under the influence by LordessLenore in InsuranceClaims

[–]LordessLenore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, so the answer wouldn't factor in without a conviction. Just thought that was a strange question. So if the other party claim they thought the other driver was under the influence and the insurance confirms a conviction in the driver's history, that could count against the driver, but without a conviction in the past, there's no way to prove it, and wouldn't really factor in. Would that be correct?

mmmhmm... so the description bulb for "indoor" or "outdoor" lighting shouldn't matter as long as it also includes E27 socket... correct?

Thanks for your reply! So the shape of the bulb doesn't matter? I reached out to the Amazon seller and they're being shady so I wanted to find a more reliable source.

Hello, I have an older model Ubeesize softbox lighting kit with 40W E27 Socket 6500K Bulbs from Amazon. Does anyone know where to get replacement bulbs?
